It's just a name.

Doesn't mean anything in particular. It doesn't refer to anything in real life. It's just a made up name I've been using as my online persona for nearly a decade. Wish it were more interesting than that.

It started out as a name of a Svirfneblin Illusionist I played many, many years ago.  But you see that doesn't really explain the name and probably just confuses the matter more. (Of course now you get the idea that I'm a DnD dork)

It's just a name I use online.

Of course that leads into the whole idea of having a separate online and offline identity which I understand hundreds have written about, so I won't. I will say that generally I seem to be much more of an ass on-line than I am in the real world but that's true of nearly everyone. In truth, I am an ass in the real world but I do a better job of hiding it.

In the offline world I also go by the name of Tom and I'm a father of 2 incredible girls.  I've been  happily married to a woman as wonderfully nerdy as I am for twelve years.  When I'm not playing outside with the kids I do work as a landscaper and sometimes computer technician.  Besides still playing dungeons & dragons, I'm host of our local Drinking Liberally, and working on the obligatory novel everyone starts in their late thirties.

Politically I'm somewhat libertarian but still believe in a strong social safety net both for pragmatic reasons  and ethical ones.  Live and let live but ensure that all have opportunity.  After the disastrous Bush administration I long to again see a competent government.
