|Republicans just love trickle down economics, originally brought to you in the Raegan administration. After all the recent financial mess, they still cling to it.They cannot begin to conceive of any policy that does not start with trickle down. They have had no problem giving money to big business, but they continue to blame the individual homebuyers for the foreclosure problem. They always applaud small government,(read no rules for big business) ,but we seem to constantly hear of problems because inspections and audits have been infrequent or suspended. As a result, taxpayers are increasingly unprotected and with decreased services.

Changing Social Security to privatization, as McCain has suggested, again decreases safeguards , permits businesses to decrease responsibilities and creates 401(k) type programs. Those did not fare too well recently.Yet, thhis is McCain's reform. His health insurance plans tax you for health insurance received as a employment benefit. If you are currently uninsured, the "tax credit" goes directly to private insurance companies, only after you have paid for coverage. They had no problem with starting to nationalize banks, but national health insurance to cover all, is totally unthinkable to them After all the recent money to big business, the Republican response to a second stimulus package is that no money be used to fund major public works programs. No, that would not be good, because the average worker would have increased income much more quickly than the years it take with trickle down programs.
McCain's ideas , my friends ,are based on the Faailed Republican Legacy. It was always a sham for the average worker. No "reform" which is still based on that idea will ever bring good change.

( I've written so many letters to the editor, they will no longer print any more, before the election. If anybody is short on time - feel free to use any part or all.)
