With the fear of global warming growing stronger every day, why is it action to stop global warmings effects is not occuring? Gas prices reaching all time highs and CO2 emissions by the billions. Politicians need to stop worrying about reelection and start working on effective legislation. New Jersey recently passed legislation that aims to lessen CO2 emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, becoming the third state to do so. The United States congress must enact similar legislation if we are to preserve our environment and our planet. In addition to lowering CO2 emissions we must also raise fuel standards to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. I believe three things must done when it comes to fuel: 1) we must raise fuel standards, 2) we must utilize hybrid, hydrogen, and electric power sources, and finally 3) we must allow diesel cars on the roads in the United States. I believe with these three steps we will be able towards a better environment, in terms of transportation.
