"The day will be most memorable in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival…It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade…bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore." - John Adams 7/3/1776

My youngest is leaving soon for the Navy so all of it is making me really sad. I keep hugging him constantly... He was an offensive lineman in football all through high school though - not the easiest to get my arms around anymore! :o)
How was your Fourth?
his dad was proud. I was mortified.
I'd be mortified too. The marines are going to stay longer than expected in Iraq (according to CNN last night)...I was pissed when I heard it.
Sounds like someone doesn't want you to worry, it's so hard not to worry and be mortified but appear supportive. God bless you and yours.
Actually, 4th of July in Juneau was one big advertisement to request: Fair Voting Because It Always Works(for me, it's sad when we have to request fair voting in an American parade); to recycle appropriately, to open up mining for gold and appropriate $74 million for it, and a request to get Solutions for Families and for our Future. It was one big political campaign. I thought it was sad that we've come to this and lost the true meaning of the 4th.
I don't think we should be partisan about our solutions, we should do it all and do it yesterday! It's a start, as it is, we debate endlessly.
The other thing I'd like to say is, I'm shocked at the posts here. We're stomping on Hillary or BO's face. What if they run together, will everyone take back their ugly words?
I'm glad you posted this, it was the ONLY appropriate post here today. You scored!
