Dear all Democrats,

As I am sure you are all aware, over the last month I have shared with you a story on how I felt discriminated against by the staff members working on John Edwards Campaign. For those of you who did not know, I was called by the campaign about two months ago. They were interested in me, and expressed an interest in me becoming a regional field director for New Hampshire. Unfortunately, as soon as they found out that I could not drive, the phone call changed it's tone. While they claimed later that I never told them the reason I could not drive (that I have a disability), I can tell you I did. Through the course of this, I called his campaign headquarters, as I felt that John Edwards campaign was misleading America with it's "two Americas" theme, and then putting me into the other America since I had a disability and could not drive. I spoke with the Senator's Chief of Staff, etc.

Since then, I have apologized to everyone for airing my story on this website, as I felt that it was unfair to use to air my problems as an unemployed disabled American on this site.

The only reason I am bringing it back up, is that I wanted to let everyone know that I will support John Edwards if he wins the nomination. I will support any Democrat who wins the nomination. I am a born and bred Democrat, and I could not even consider voting for another party during a general election. I hope this helps.

Peace Out...

Ashley Levine

Seeing left of center
By Mike Barack Hussein Jun 17th 2007 at 10:17 pm EDT
Ashley, I appreciate this post because (without my glasses at least) I cannot see left of center. My vision in my left eye is 20/400 though lenses improve it to having "drivable" vision. I also have a right elbow that won't move appropriately.

You were the first person to speak with me on this site after I joined; and I have appreciated every post of yours I have read.

Best of luck in finding good employment.
I am also unemployed, 62 years old, and don't have a good lead. So send me your cast off jobs.
:-)

That's nice Ashley.

It's nice to know you don't hold a grudge. It's funny what people hear and don't hear. Did you see on the news yesterday where this mother tried to report her missing expectant daughter and her grandson that was 2 yrs old found in the house alone? When I heard the responses of the dispatcher, it really griped me; no one listens or tries to absorb what is said, but are quick to judge. This grandmother was only concerned for her missing daughter, but the dispatcher took it that the mother abandoned her son. In the end, which ever way the story unfolded, why didn't the dispatcher offer to send assistance, but instead she vented her own judgement? I was a dispatcher for a sheriff dept. and this wasn't a reasonable behavior or reasonable response. In relation, it's really too bad for you either way (whether they heard that you had a disability and couldn't drive, or whether they failed to hear you). If they really want a campaign manager, couldn't they provide you with an assistant driver (you'd need one anyway, right)? It seems, these days, most people move in pairs. I'd call them back and be persistant, if it's really what you want to do. Where there's a will, there's a way. I'd drive you, but I'm in Alaska, sorry.

You are truly a honorable person for taking this enlightened stance. I don't know what the law is here, but clearly you were offended, and you've moved on and forgiven...a bigger person you are!
