Everyone is so hyped up about the election this year, like if Obama does not agree with everything you want the world will come to the end. The real problem is that it will take more then the president to solve our problems, we all need to change our behavior.

Start looking at your electrical bill and make sure you do not run your AC too often, by new appliances, sell your hummer or large SUV. Take the train, car pool. For clothes and other things look at tags try to buy things built in America. Do not buy fruit out of season

If you are not willing to make these changes and many others like it, this is all talk and nothing will change

The President

You are right. The president is SOMEWHAT limited by congress. I hope the new congressional Democrats perform better than our current crop.
And, you are also right that we, as citizens, have to become active participants in our own world by being better stewards of, well all of it...

Thank God Franklin D Rosevelt did not take the stancea of do nothing leader cannot solve or put programs in short term and long term, and let the people suffer. I think that was Hoover's vision!

If you look back to World War II and even parts of the great depression, our country was made great by the people not the government. Some time around the 60's we got it in our heads all we had to do is vote and the rest would be done for us and we could be assholes for four years and then just vote again. We need to be more like the greatest generation that ever lived

We have a new poster

Her name is snake lips, you might have several things in common. She loves rhetoric. She love a Depression and is sure one is coming. She loves high gas prices and not doing anything about it. She crawls under a rock in the day time. Maybe she will be here for you to talk to. She loves Obama's short term plan for energy, the do nothing plan.

well if you lived in the real world you would know we are in a recession, the stock market is now in Bear territory, housing market is down 35% and the banks have no capital, so pay attention here, we are in a recession. But if you read my post is was about doing something, something besides spewing venom on a blog site. what do you drive, what is your electric bill?

Silly boy, June was the lowest month since the Depression in the Stock market. Gas prices affect everything, from the person to the business. DEPRESSION is on the move, and investors are telling us to invest in commodities - it has just begun.

yeah, that is what I just said, and again what are you doing to help?

Oh yeah, I have control of gas prices and the investors or the oil companies making record profits. It has nothing to do with supply baby, absolutely nothing. Buy the hype, and dont eat.

Please tell that truck driver to get bigger back so he can carry two boxes of vegetables down the highway to the grocery store. Eat grass.

Go to Mother Jones article, an independent truth telling journal!

Are you, get your head out of the sand. Do you have any idea how economics work! You have bought the hype for doing nothing now.

yes, I have an understanding of economics a good one, but I was talking how your english was kind of poor. your kinda talking gibberish
Re: We have a new poster

My typing is poor, but I assure you my English is just fine. The ignorance of just conserving on energy will cause a Depression. As for my energy, I have always conserved and still do. My electric bill living in AZ is 59.00, and I only use my car that gets 42 miles to the gallon when need be. I don't have grass, because we have little water hear. I recycle and have bags that I use over and over again at the grocery store. I have always conserved!

The problem Mr. Economics is transporting goods and without being able to do it cost effectively, we lose. Business lose, jobs are lost.

The 300.00 check Obama wants to give is a gimmick! The taxing for roads is done on gas, so now they are going to tax on the busy times when people go to work.

Please go to Mother Jones, it has more information without political spin.

did you see the part of my post that said do not buy fruit out of season, because shipping tomatoes from South America is very expensive. Oil is only one part of our problem, we have not been growing the economy for some time, just appearing too while increasing debt. Now all the markets are in the shitter. It will be a good while before things get better, having the demand on oil will be a major factor in the recovery. I am not saying buy a hybid, a normal 4 cylinder car will do. Having the government spend money on mass transit and rebuilding our country, greener and better instead of trying to rebuild Iraq would be a better use of our money

The problem is changing our behavior can only go so far. I personally have limited my driving. However, we do not have the kind of mass transit in our community that we should. As such we are dependent upon our automobiles. We cannot get to work without them, cannot get to most shopping without them.
Herein lies the problem. We are dependent on legislators to use our tax monies properly and not for their own advantage or personal lobby groups, but to provide for the general welfare of the people they supposedly represent.

you are correct, we do and the day of the mall in the middle of no where so the land prices are cheap are possibly over. we do need more mass transit, in the northeast we have plenty of it, but its at capasity

I know there must be some sociopathic idealogy here. Economics has to do with interstate trade and products! Get out of the me me me zone.

it has to do with cash flow, and being liquid. It has to do with markets and the amount of available capital in the market place. Your description is first year economics, they do have classes above 101
