As I say in the title I am an Obama supporter, so let me give you my unbiased opinion of the Senator, this should be fun!

Hillary has fought for health care since Bill was president. That is a lot of conviction

If you listened to Edwards endorsement of Obama last night, he had a lot of good things to say about Hillary, that means something.

The race should continue till the end, it is good for us to finish what we started.

Hillary has gone further in this primary then any other women, you have to give her some glass ceiling credit there.

She knows she is loosing right now and will not win the race, yet she still gets up everyday and faces the public(lets see any of us try that) and is today defended Obama against Bush. I know it was the right thing to do but that takes a lot out of a person on an emotional level, you have to give her credit for this shows a lot of character. She has a smile on every day, imagine the stress she is under!

Please feel free to add comments on the positive aspects of Hillary I know I did not get them all.  Keep in mind this is a POSITIVE POST!!

Your statement that...
By Democrat in Sebastian, FL May 15th 2008 at 10:43 pm EDT
she ...will not win the race is both uninformed and wrong.

How did the Democrats manage to pick a candidate in '04 that couldn't beat Bush? Well, Obama supporter, you're doing it again.

Yes, I read the whole post and I quoted the part I disagreed with.

I'm also trying to remind everyone that we should be focusing on November and that we still have a chance to correct the mistakes of the past by nominating someone that can actually win.

I promise I was trying to do a good job on the post, I see people are mad about me saying she is going to loose, if anyone has ever had to get up and still work when things are not going well for them, they would know I was trying to give her lots of credit. It wears on you and she is holding up quite well

Well said.
I appreciate your opinion
By Cheryl/Michigan May 16th 2008 at 1:50 am EDT
As an Obama supporter you should believe that he will win. As Clinton supporters we can only hope that she will because alot of things have to be decided that will either hurt or help her.

I believe that if the DNC makes a fair and just decision and the super-delegates really consider which candidate is more likely to be able to beat McCain and they all consider ALL of the issues that have arisen during the course of this campaign and not just go along with their state Hillary Clinton will have a chance.

I do appreciate your acknowledgement of her efforts.

Re: YES JERSEY
By Democrat in Las Vegas, NV May 16th 2008 at 4:53 pm EDT
If the Democrat primary were a presidential election, then by the states already won it is Hillary by a landslide. She now has 300 Electoral College votes and the best Obama can possibly muster is 238. Only 270 votes are need to win the presidency. Yes, I counted Michigan and Florida. Even if I didn't count these two states, she still beats Obama 256 to 238. The presidential election winner is determined by-winner-takes-all Electoral College votes not a by a caucus or even super-delegates.

Funny statistics, Jennifer.

I suppose you're counting Florida and Michigan even though Obama wasn't even on Michigan's ballot. (In fact I know you have to be.) You're also probably not counting the caucus states. Are you additionally eliminating the "unimportant" small states LIKE WEST VIRGINIA?
Re: F..KING WAKE UP
By Trey May 15th 2008 at 10:52 pm EDT
She is counting Hillary's votes in MI but none of the uncommitted votes, presumed to be Obama's only way you can say Hillary is in the lead.
Re: F..KING WAKE UP
By illinoismel May 15th 2008 at 10:59 pm EDT
Not so Trey . . . Edwards, Richardson, Dodd, Biden, Kucinch and Gravel were all still in the race at that point in time. You might be able to do something with the delegates, but you will never know the vote was to Obama.
Re: F..KING WAKE UP
By Trey May 15th 2008 at 11:03 pm EDT
I am corrected, you cannot presume them to be Obama's votes. I still think to count MI does not make sense. I also beleive the rules committee will not seat the delegates as the MI voters, voted in MI - they will split the votes as the MI delegation had suggested 69 - 59 Hillary. For now
Re: F..KING WAKE UP
By Liz May 15th 2008 at 11:06 pm EDT
please post the link on CNN that shows that Hillary is winning the popular vote.

I could not find it.

According to Real Cleaer Politics, even with Florida, Obama still leads in the popular vote
Link

total delegates Obama +172
super delegates Obama +19
Pledged delegates Obama +15
Popular Vote Obama 49.3 Clinton 47.5
Popular Vote w FL Obama 48.4 Clinton 47.6

Not only does this count not include Michigan, it also does not include Iowa, Nevada, Me and Washington. These states have not released their popular votes yet and the advantage is to Obama.

Jenni,

You are out there spewing this "fact" for hours, then you concede? What exactly are you doing for Hillary's campaign but bashing the other candidate and getting your facts wrong in the process?

I think Hillary has a shot at it, especially considering MI & FL. You're not helping anyone with that vision though, you're alienating people with your "F..KING" this and "F..KING" that.

Perhaps you mean well but you come off as very hateful and reactionary. This is "partybuilder" not "partybutcher."

She has been faithful to her husband
By Mike Barack Hussein May 15th 2008 at 10:46 pm EDT
through all these years; but the Republican candidate has not (obviously).

I'm not totally convinced she's been working on health care all these years; but I got to give her credit for trying in the 90's.

I haven't heard many negative things about her from her New York constituents.

She is a decent public speaker.

She began with the press almost calling her the nominee; but when that changed, she continued to work on toward her goal. That is impressive when anyone does it.

She has many devoted folk who want her to be president.

She is a good debater.

She is good at writing policy.

I'm sure I could come up with more; but I'll let others do it.

I'm from New York and we are both lucky and proud to have Senator Clinton represent us every day. As a politician, she get's it.........yes, she has connections........connections that ANYONE who any dream of becoming president MUST HAVE. She know's how to negotiate because she has..............she know's how the presidency works because she's had "some exposure to it".

As for experience, granted Neither Obama or Clinton has ever been president, BUT Senator Clinton is at least a second term senator.....that experience should count for something.
What I cannot understand
By Vidya May 15th 2008 at 11:10 pm EDT
is that if, The American Federation of Teachers backs Hillary, how is that over looked? That means a lot to me. The idea that her supporters are uneducated is silly, education usually depends on the demographics of the area. Am quite certain it is forbotten to raise the uneducated stance of his supporters due to racial allegations, so we here how his are smart and hers are dumb. It is silly. Sorry, know you're trying to stay positive, and I'll vote for him if I have too, just that...there are far too many more reasons to vote for her, which I guess are harder for me to ignore than most of his followers.

It was a very nice gesture... though and I do appreciate you posting it.

By Woman at Large May 15th 2008 at 11:34 pm EDT
she proves she's nothing but class. You may point out she's losing among her own party, but her loss would be nothing compared to the way the Democratic "winner" will be trounced in November. Why do we keep reading that anyone who wins the Dem nomination will be president? That might have been true with a universally acceptable candidate like Hillary, but it won't happen with a candidate who's unappealing to half his own party, as well as the conservative WASPS who make up the Republican party.
With truth comes the good and the not so good.
By Vidya May 16th 2008 at 12:23 am EDT
It is really hard to resist the temptation to be honest.

Woman at large has made the point, we all fear, which will be our own undoing.
The problem with your points
By Pale Rider May 16th 2008 at 11:12 pm EDT
are that a.) Hillary is obviously NOT universally acceptable, otherwise she would have the overwhelming majority of the popular vote rather than trailing, and that leads directly to b.) she is unappealing to more than half her party. The arguments you post are like tissue paper that are soaked in water: you can't see through them until, as yours are, they get wet, then they're practically transparent. A discerning eye will see through them.

I honestly like them both. I think there's an added dynamic with the spouses involved, but they truly would make an excellent governing team. I think Obama's the level-headed one for delicate foreign policy matters and she's the relentless go-getter for any domestic crisis. I know she would've cleaned up Katrina in a matter of months and he would've never moved on Iraq.

my respect for Hillary has gone up termendously over the last week
By D. Tree May 16th 2008 at 5:10 pm EDT
The way she has changed her rhetoric shows clearly she is interested in what it best for our party. Coming out and saying that a vote for McCain would be a mistake, and defending democrats against Mr. Bush's remarks showed she has a lot of integrity.

I was an ardent Hillary supporter before Obama came to my attention, and if he was not in this race I would be firmly in the Hillary camp.

What is interesting about this primary is how hard we have fought to show the differences between these two candidates. Clearly, we found enough difference to consolidate our camps - but we must now begin the work of stepping back for a view with better perspective. We can't allow ourselves to fall into "toxic certainty" where the relatively minor differences between Hillary and Barack become insurmountable differences.

In the end we share more in common with each other than we do with John McCain or the GOP - and that is something I am very appreciative for Hillary saying over this last week.

There is too much at stake in this election for us not to come out of this ugly primary unified. Think about it this way: we're only this passionate because for once we have to choose the best of two great candidates, instead of the lesser of two evil ones.

Thanks for your positive post, NJ.

In Unity,
D. Tree
