Those of you old enough to remember, and perhaps even serve, in Vietnam remember the old-time newscasts....live combat, wounded soldiers and civilians....flag-draped coffins, etc. The images from that war educated a whole new generation on the horrors of war and led to questioning our government - WHY were we in that country, WHY were we sacrificing our soldiers, WHAT was the purpose of the continued violence, WHEN will they be coming home?

Flash-forward to today.  There is a reason why our government has banned photos of our war heroes....the evil Empire knows what can happen if America's attention is distracted from the hypnotizing effects of tabloid, Hollywood journalism and, actually, sees the truth of what is going on behind the yellow ribbon "support our troops" campaign.

Let me be clear....I do believe there are just wars. I do believe in our country having a moral duty to protect our nation and the world from murdering, psychopathic dictators.  I am thankful our country put an end to Hitler's regime.  But in doing so, our country lost many heroes.  We knew the horrors of war and accepted the outcome as being justified.

THIS war in Iraq is not justified.  THIS war in Iraq was begun with an illegal action which undermines our Constitution. THIS government in THIS war has flouted the Geneva Convention rules and U.N. rules for wartime treatment of prisoners....rules OUR country put into place for future protection of our own soldiers in future wars.  Our government used to be a moral compass of the world.  Now, it is disgraced and our soldiers are being sacrificed for control of OIL.  Shameful.  Horrible.  Wrong.

The government thinks the following pictures in the extended post are too inflammatory for public viewing.  Don't you think you should decide for yourself?  Don't you think these soldiers and their families deserve the respect, attention and remembrance as our soldiers in past wars?

In November, remember these photos.  Remember which party brought this war to you.  Remember which party will end the war - during our generation, not in 100 years.  Honor these soldiers and their families.  Please remember them.

People need to see

Thanks Blueberry, we all seem to miss the point living safe here in our crystal palace.

People are getting maimed and killed while we argue over the best seat on a sinking ship.

LOL. I luv the 2nd line...and so true. It's the only reason why I was here, to get people to reason and remember our troops - then vote appropriately. It's all that matters and should matter...our troops should take president over all issues.

BOOTS On OUR Territory!
BRING ON our troops!
HOME NOW!
BRING OUR TROOPS AND THEIR BOOTS HOME - NOW!

The party did not bring this War
By Betty Lou - Independent May 14th 2008 at 11:38 am EDT
please understand...the party was a pawn, who has been judged to be cruel, heartless and will fight and go to war...well Darn...It's the republicans...those dirty sob's. Well you know what...it went deeper...the mission was for the oil control...the masterminds were other country heads, diplomats, oil industry mongrels...these are your enemies...not the republican's or republican parties...and if someone ever wises up and we can make the Bush administration and War admirals...confess these names...we can lock them all up...but that won't be possible...because many of the are high dollar law firms...you don't think they have all the loop holes covered.

So anyway...we are only headed into more stuff like this because nobody wants to believe who the real enemies are other than ourselves.

"So anyway...we are only headed into more stuff like this because nobody wants to believe who the real enemies are other than ourselves."

Bullshit. We're not stupid. We know the ties of the oil companies with our government. We know the true mission. We know where Halliburton's new company headquarters is located. We've known it from the start.

Check the blogs on this site for the last two years. Check out our members' dedication to protests - writing and calling our legislators, standing on street corners during protests, preparing packages for the troops, holding fundraisers for basic supplies for Reserve troops. Tell me what you have done besides continuing your condescending crap ramblings here.

The Libertarians won't stop this war, because they aren't going to be in power to stop the funding or withdrawal the troops. The only party with that capacity is the Democratic Party.

Vets....

American Vets
I posted this on Apr 3rd, 2008 at 2:02 pm EDT

I have worked in 3 VA Hospitals over the years, I know the other price of War.

I was in Salt Lake City in 1968. I am Anti War (preventive War) but not Anti Military.
I won't go into the finer details of that. I saw too much. You have no idea. Most may know one or two disabled Vets but when you see thousands?
It has been 40 years, and I still have the images burned into my brain.
I am also a Silver Commander for the Disabled Vets.
Which means I have donated more than 25 years without failing one year. (2008) that would be 40 years. Maybe I will become a golden commander.
I never give to the Goodwill etc.... always the Disabled Vets.

Back to the Vets........ you do know that Hillary has worked very hard and has helped obtain the needed health care for the returning Vets, not just the Vets but their families. She will not tolerate continued abuse. They did what was asked of them, even when the reasons were wrong.
They were not fighting and giving up their lives for our freedom. None of this is about our freedom at risk.

Health care is Hillary's passion..... the abuse of returning Vets is not a new story.
I have shared, Clinton's passion for that passion the last 40 years....and she has only been at it for 20.

The support the troops bumper stickers and ribbons are lost and they fade. The real thing is, many Vets come home damaged.. and often for life. We abandon these Vets. This is a fact..... we have done it with every War since WWII.

I am so sorry ....... so with my thanks to all the Vets out there,
please believe me when I say, there are those of us that respect what you do on a
long term bases. We will NEVER forget what you do, and what you have done for our country.

Because of you, the Vet, is another reason I vote for Hillary Clinton.
She will bring troops home, first of all, with honor and responsibility.
Those that have done the jobs asked of them will not be lost in this.

GOD BLESS YOU our Vets.......stay safe, come home soon.

And God Bless America..............

Hillary Clinton...2008 Barak Obama.....2016

Thank you, VV, for your well-said thoughts. I am the wife, daughter and grand-daughter of vets from WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Persian Gulf I. My dad was a medic in the army. There are no words to describe what he saw and what you saw. However, there was faith in the mission in previous wars.

Today, the mission is corrupt and our soldiers are NOT being cared for upon returning from home. It is a disgrace. Funding needs to be stopped for the war, but increased dramatically long-term for our soldiers and their families - pay, medical, housing, education.

CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS THAT BELIEVE IN THE VOTING AND LETTING THE PEOPLE'S VOICE BE HEARD!

ACTION NEEDED, ORGANIZATION NOW

Please e-mail me at lassintucson@aol.com. We need to start organization to form a new party. I have absolutely had it. We need ads in newspapers all throughout the Country. First, to hire a Party Organizer. This time someone with experience, no rhetoric please. We need a contact, hope it one of you, for each state. This is from the ground up, so it will be in our houses. It will take us a while to organize, just like John Adams. We can vote on a representative from each State to help us move forward. It will be Saturdays knocking on doors, getting money from the John Doe working man, the woman that has been disinfrachised. Woman are the main base of the Party, it is time for a clean up from the bottom up. No Right Wing or Left Wing nuts, but a middle sensible person to lead us. No lies, no race baiting, no political spin, and absolutely no rhetoric - this will be for the people that truly matter - we the people!

We will hire a reputable accounting firm to really check the money, not the bull that both the Republicans and the Democrats have done.

By pcmoore28 May 14th 2008 at 12:39 pm EDT
War is ugly but sometimes it is necessary.

The only way we got out of Vietnam was by cutting the funding. Senator Obama and Sen Clinton have NOT voted to cut the funding. I urge them to cut the funding the the mission in Iraq, so our troops can home home.
Re: yes
By Letitrip May 14th 2008 at 1:50 pm EDT
Killing people and their villages is never an option or "sometimes necessary." That's bullshit.

Negotiations (communication) and skills are the keys to prevent war. You've been brain washed with rhetoric...NEVER ok to war with others.

Just my humble opinion, so shoot me...whatever, I am peaceful minded, not a dope that believes government has any authority or right to kill or maim whenever they see fit. I'm not a republican either. :)

Wish that I could get everyone who is arguing about insignificant BS on this site to stand in the street with me this afternoon--at least they'd be venting their anger toward those who truly deserve it.

It sure is difficult to understand the outrage expressed by so many on this site about petty, personal nonsense when there are so many urgent issues we need to address.

For some of us, this war is personal. The way to support our troops is to bring them home from Iraq and end this debacle that Bush/Cheney & co. got us into.

For many of them, it's a job,
Not Russia, not England, Not the Arabs have been able to beat these people down,

Eisenhower did send advisers. during the Korean Conflict, My Father served in Korea. What I am saying is Stop playing the Blame Game, Bush should have learned, but we all know History repeats itself over and Over again. Like Blueberry said there are more people worried about the Signal on their Cell Phones and Black Berries than they are what happens to this Country. They raise their voices when the Gas Prices top $4 a Gallon, some do not care about Gas because they do not Drive, the ride Public Transportation, well Public transportation is great for the person that works a regular 8a-5p mon-fri Job with weekends off.

I myself work in the Private Security field and deal with Our Nation Main supply of Fuel for the power plants over much of the Nation.

Coal the True Black Gold, without Coal New York would be Dark, Most major Cities would be Dark, without power. Not Having Electricity would solve the problem of Cell Phones and Computers and kids getting fat and lazy playing X box and Play station instead of running and playing at the park. there would also be no power to pump the Precious Liquid Gold called Gasoline.

Two wrongs don't make it right. We cannot change the past, but we can influence the future. My husband's buddies in the Marine Corp were slaughtered sleeping in their beds in 1993. We didn't run. We didn't hide. We didn't quit. But we prayed that the lives of our friends would not be forgotten or their lives lost in vain. The honor and integrity of our country has now been blackened. We CAN honor and support our troops while voting the GOP criminals out of office. Are you willing to help us do that?

Yes, the Bush administration has a problem with allowing these pictures. They are afraid it would be bad publicity for the war. News Flash: the public already has turned against the war. The Bush people simply don't care about the press and the media - only the message.
