Stop picking on the girls, a threat to...

With regard to Palin I respect her right to her beliefs, but American women (less the fringe which believe the same as her) should see this as what it is. An insult to all Americans and especially to Hillary R. Clinton.

As if to say that the same reproductive parts make her equal to the task. You all know I supported Hillary way back before I started studying Obama's positions. I hope this is the opportunity for Hillary to once again prove her metal by politely putting this woman in her place.

We know that Obama and Biden as men must be very careful not to say or do anything to appear to be picking on the little lady. Maybe that is the plan, make everyone feel sorry for her and Mr. old man.

I learned the hard way how this can backfire. The best debate I was ever in was at a regional high school meet in Hammond, Louisiana in 1967 or 68. My teammate Jeff and I had already won two very difficult debates and we ended up in a room with an opposing team consisting of two young ladies. We had tons of references and had debated both sides of the issue so many times it was second nature to us. We were so well prepared we smashed every argument they put forth with.

The girls were beaten as badly as any debate I had ever seen. They began crying as we finished our summation. What a fantastic day until, the judge (someone's grand dad with no idea of the rules of debate and who had been drafted to act as a judge) began to say there, there it's alright, you did fine. At that point Jeff and I looked at each other and realized we had been too good, too right. And yes we came home with one loss, the one debate that had not even been close.

That is what scares me about Palin. We better be really careful to not win the sympathy of the uninformed. No matter how right you are if you appear to be a bully you can lose on a sympathy vote.

Also we better leave NRA membership out of it. Many of us NRA members have been known to be single issue voters. I carry a gun only because a cop is to heavy to carry with me. That is all I have to say on this pick.

Alexa - haven't you seen quite a bit about her already? Her stance on many issues has been shown. What exactly is it your looking for?

I believe she may be looking for the same thing most humans are looking for - to judge and be judged on the content of character, not anything more or less.

As a woman, I get what she's saying - men will never understand the continued discrimination.

I agree, I don't happen to agree with Palin on any of her political views, but I think respect needs to be in order.

I have a wife and a daughter (9 years old). I want nothing more than my daughter to be raised in a world where she can excel and be respected.

We need to be able to talk about the issues and Palin's stance on them. We can not turn a blind eye towards her conservative views. I hear a lot about judgment and character arguments every time someone makes a post referring to her views. Saying we need to judge her character in response to "she supported the bridge-to-nowhere", "has little experience", and "she is against all forms of birth control" are not valid responses to points of specific issues.

Just to be clear, I'm saying that we can't always respond to legitimate arguments such as these:

1. She supported the bridge-to-nowhere
2. Has little experience
3. She is against all forms of birth control

With "we need to judge her character.
