The Tory during the American Revolution and Their Revelance Today
Even though the Declaration of Independence and American Revolution was inevitable at the time, certain Loyalists (Tories) remained faithful to King George. They did their best to disrupt in any way they could, the movement for a free America.
Their efforts ranged from sending the names of many of the Sons of Liberty to London, to picking up weapons to aid the British Army.
Today I see much of the same going on as another King George is about to be run off. To me the current movement by the Democrats is completely analogous to the situation during the original American Revolution when the Whigs stood up to the power that had taken our liberty and was fighting to keep us from regaining it. We must do anything within our power to keep our revolution moving. The restoration of our civil rights taken away by King George and Lord Cheney must be our foremost goal.
The right of all Americans to a living wage, medical care and a chance for an education should certainly precede the right of the multinational corporations to ship jobs overseas, avoid taxes, and profit from war waged for gain rather than to protect freedom. Our modern day Tories like the ones in the 1700's choose to disrupt our movement in favor of continuing in subservience to a cruel and heartless regime. A regime which will let nothing, including the Constitution of the United States stand in their way. We have seen our rights suspended and fear spread through our country in an effort by them to keep in power. They have stooped to torture; to publicly exposing a covert officer of our CIA (resulting in the death of her entire network of agents); to giving the keys of the country to the energy countries. This same party is giving away Texas owned highways to a foreign country to turn into Toll roads. These are roads we have built with out taxpayer money.
These people call themselves conservatives yet defy our Constitution and work for the rights of the corporations instead of the people. If anyone missed it "We the People" was not written as "We the Corporations". We the people are the patriots of the United States. Those confused Tories have my sympathy for now because of their delusional attachment to King George and the unpatriotic regime the Republican party has established.
I also have little love for any Democrats who may also want to strip the people of power. They are like those unpatriotic Whigs that were only out for their own profit. Today the patriots must again make a stand in the name of nationhood. The world has changed and is more complex than during our first Revolution, but we still have the perennial Tory to contend with. If they want to disagree, then I say let them do it among themselves. If they persist in disrupting our discussions and plans for restoring our country, then they are our enemies. Like the Tories of old who had drawn the sword against their countrymen; they will hopefully find to their bitter chagrin that their beloved party regards them as inferiors, and despises them almost as much as the hated Democrats.
Back in the day, Tories sometimes faced firing squads or hemp nooses. Not so much for their being loyalists in belief, but for outright support for the King's army. That was a little more severe than getting banned from a website. Be careful if you wish for the good old days.
