When is my party going to stand up to this president and pull the plug on this disaster we call the Iraq War? We are constantly being told by the media and our own elected officials that the Dems just don't have the vote to withstand a veto by the criminal Bush. So what! Let Bush veto a bill that calls for a troop withdrawal. Let him explain to the American people why after 5 years of warfare there is no end in sight to the slaughter of our soldiers. Let him grovel to the Congress for ever penny that goes into Iraq. Unless my party wants to see a repeat of Chicago 1968 they had better stop enabling this war and start make real plans to bring our troops home and do the job they were elected to do! Enough is enough!

Right on!

It is way past time for action to be taken. Why are the Dems being so timid? I don't comprehend Nancy Peolosi and keeping impeachment "off the table" for instance. If she is saving the Party's energy for a big issue, then there is nothing more pressing than the war.

they need to do just that, hopefully they step up sooner rather than later, I think those who post here are unanimous about this topic and are waiting for action, hopefully this site will help influence their decision.

Exactly, let the party pander to us and not to Bushco. Nancy is turning out to be a major dissapointment. Sen Biden says he finds it immoral to cut funding to the troops! I guess leaving them in the meat grinder that has become Iraq is a far more moral stance! Cut the crap and end this war already!

Separation of Powers

I don't think Congress can pass a law withdrawing the troops. The do not command the military. They may withhold funding. Dems in congress don't have the political will to do so. Which, I think, demonstrates that this whole issue about the war is not about protecting troops or defending this country, it's about political power. I think that that is sad, and I'm thankful that Dems in Congress are cowards, IMO.

Correct you are!!

I am right there with you. If HE continues to VETO, then HE is the one that is NOT sending funds to the troops! Our leadship seems to think that THEY will be blamed.......who cares? RIGHT IS RIGHT!! Stop the funding.....the troops get out! It is THAT SIMPLE!!!

Great post!

We've spent a lot of time, "kvetching" (yiddish for complaining) and not enough doing. talking the talk is hardly walking the walk. Sadly, I feel it's already too late. And I love that Bush tried to announce things are better over there. I'm sorry Mr. GW Bush, are you...psychotic? oh no, just inane beyond some undiscovered galaxy.

The Democrats do have have the power by doing nothing, they hold the purse strings. But They are fools because by nottaking a stand they aleinate the base which is all of us, just weaking the party more.
Its like trying to lead a frigging horse to water thats dieing of thirst.

Dems aren't timid

They are represaenting their districts and states. Their constituents do not want funding cut.
