THE MESS WAS MADE BY THE RESPECTIVE STATES!

I am all for the right to vote; however, I have a huge family and extended family in both Florida and Michigan who did not vote because they knew the vote was worthless. The combined total of all of these people is about 1,500 - who in turn know thousands more who didn't vote because of this reason. I wouldn't have voted either under the circumstances. What about all of these people?

Republican leaders in Florida caused their debacle. You cannot arbitrarily change dates of elections to suit your agenda. I emphathize with the millions of people in Florida and Michigan; however, rules cannot be changed in the middle of a race. Doing so will set a dangerous precedent. If the rules are changed, this will leave open for the next state to do their will. The thing to do is work toward a process that would keep it from happening again. Contrary to popular belief, rules are not made to be broken. I was a child during the 50's and 60's and remember the "Jim Crow" rules. Wrong - you damn right - but followed to the letter - until the rules or laws were overturned. Many good people were caught up in this unfair set of laws. Some individuals never lived to see the laws change.

As far as Obama not having his name on the ballot - he and Edwards "removed" their names from Michigan's ballot, and it was too late to remove their names from Florida's ballot. All of these candidates signed an agreement in reference to the DNC rules. Hillary even said herself - that she didn't need Michigan. Now, because the race is tight - the rules need to change. I'm afraid not! Nobody knows what the true outcome would have been in these states, had all the candidates - including Edwards had campaigned in these states.

I have not made my choice for either candidate; however, the uproar, name-calling, and division in this party is killing me. Obama is not to blame for what happened in those states, and to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. The people of both states should call on the carpet their state leaders who are to blame - and not reelect them.

You would never tell the truth, but if Hillary was leading - would you want a revote?

Personally, Edwards was the better candidate!

R U implying that I am telling a lie. I said no revote because I already voted. If someone had not voted that is their fault and since there are RULES the votes cast should stand, that is the law!

My candidate did not win and I didn't bitch about it except that the media and the DNC openly supported one candidate and it so happened that that candidate got his ass whipped!

Did you not read the whole post? She stated why both he and Edwards didn't remove their names...it was too late.

Then there a lt of stupid

people that didn't vote. They must have forgotten that there were amendments to vote on, local election issues to vote on and they did count.

So if they were silent and did not care too damn bad, they can now live with the decisions made by the millions that did vote.

I agree fully with you Retired Army Sir.
Grandpa's philosophy is that people whom do not participate in the electoral process, do not have an arguable case to complain about the elected public servants, regardless of position they are elected to.
Be it from Mayor of a small picturesque town or the toughest job in the Free World, PRESIDENT OF the United States.
I believe grandpa is right on the mark. Not because he is my grandpa, but because he makes a lot of sense.
Abstention said grandpa, " is man's worst enemy because he pitts himself aginst common judgement", or better stated common sense in relation to the matter..
Peace to all.

I thank you and your Grandfather for your thoughts.

I hope your grandfather is on the mend as I haven't really seen any news on him lately. Give him my warm regards and a wish for rapid recovery.

should remove those Republicans from office when they're up for re-election. Yet another concerted Republican screwing.

We have tried but the influx of repugs from the northern states retiring here have changed this state from blue to red.

Jeb wasn't a Floridian by choice until he ran for gov. Most GOPee reps are from other states or descendents of them. Some changed their affiliation because their constituents changed and they never would have been reelected if they stayed dem. That's even worse, thats yellow for their own gain!

You have no idea of the complexities of my family and extended family, so you should refrain from making assumptions!

Right on
By RD/I voter May 5th 2008 at 7:19 pm EDT
I say to those in MI and FL, follow the rules. If you want a president that says one thing and then does another, even though she promised, than don't cry if she gets the nomination and she screws you too. However, if she does, I will be voting for any R on the ballot. If the DNC allows her to change the rules than they are not the party I want in any office anywhere. Quit blaming Obama for every little thing someone else says. Grow up! If you can't read than this won't mean anything to you and you're free to vote for Hillary. That applies to all over 50 also.

You too display the great allegience to the party. At least we will write in a democrats name! If you can vote for McCain directly then you are a repug!

Florida

Obama's name was on the ballot in Florida. According to my sources that live in Florida, there was only one Democratic candidate that ran any advertising on TV in the State prior to the election - Obama. You can't have it both ways. Say the election is invalid and not seat the delegates while being the only candidate that actually campaigned there. Even being the only one to run ads on TV there, he still lost to Hillary.
