What exactly is Freedom of Speech??

I believe along with what is in the constitution, that all Americans are free to speak. Afterall, that is how Louis Farrakhan and Rev.Wright can spew such anti-American, anti-white hate speech without going to jail. So if I don't like the Louis Farrakhan's and the Jeramiah Wrights of this world I should have just as much right to speak out against them and the people who support their ideologies as they speak out against our skin color, our international politics and our previous Presidents and First Ladies!
If the DNC wants to make us keep our mouths shut, its not the Democratic party I grew up with!

And who exactly in the DNC or among the leadership in the Democratic Party is asking you to keep your mouth shut?

Negative meaning not of your view? She has a right to her opinion, get over it!

Negative meaning attacking bloggers. Her view doesn't have to be my view but at some point it gets annoying after all this is partybuilding. Blog after blog of naegativity does nothing. At some point you identify your problem and then get into the solution. Staying stuvk in the problem doesn't help you to move on.

Maggie, apparently you only read this blog, why don't you go to the others and see the half of the democratic party that is nasty and devisive. You only need to look. That is the same excuse that Howard Dean used, he did not have or watch cable TV. You think I am divisive, why don't you look on the net and see all of it otherwise, Maggie you have the same blinders on that Howard has on!

No I read all the posts but pick and chose the one I post on. There are no blinders here, I do look at the big picture. But I also know that there are two sides to evrything and usually people do try to look at the other side as well.

I don't follow

all the comments about this blog and that blog and all the other, but I will comment on the original post.

I think you need to be either one of more clear, or more intellectually honest about who exactly is trying to take away your freedom of speech.

It seems to me that you have used a post with a title about Freedom of Speech to do to things: 1) You attack Wright and Farrakhan. (You'll be surprised and happy to learn that neither of those men is actually running for any office)

and

2) You make an assertion about some vague and undefinable "they" taking away your freedom to attack Wright and Farrakhan. (which is a little weird, because you are clearly able to do that here)

If you want to lodge a serious complaint about restricted free speech, you have to give a time and a place where your speech was restricted by the United States government, and you have to tell us exactly WHO restricted your speech and under what circumstances.

and where is it said that *either* of these guys is even IN the democratic party, let alone running for office?

of course you can be as mad as you want about anything you want, and against anyone you want - no one will stop you. some might argue, some might agree.

these forums are like a public square - many people to talk to, many to ignore; some crazies standing on soapboxes spewing nonsense, some people listening to them - and some arguing with them.

and then there are the folks who move about all the chaos, sometimes communicating, sometimes observing.

it is up to you what you do in the public square. you have posted a blog that is your every right to say what you want as long as you are not directly insulting a fellow PB member or otherwise violating the Terms of Service.

and just like we can ignore those we don't want to listen to in the public square, we can also engage, or try to persuade.

me, other than saying what i just said above, my only point i'd like to make is: since when are either of these guys running for public office? oh, they're not? OK, well maybe that's why i don't care so much about what they have to say.
This Party Builder blog is for the lowest caste

Howdy.

If you haven't noticed, this PB blog is the only one available to those not "acceptable" to blog on the official open thread. They have closed that one down to all new memberships and only about 8 regular bloggers can post over there anymore.

Censorship runs rampant on that blog; if you do not fall into lock step with what the "regular" say you get banned immediately.

Welcome to the DNC machine.

well at last we are intent on winning and exercising some discipline for once - as you can clearly see from the post on PB there is not censorship going on here. people are free to dis our nominee as much as they want... go figure.

What are you talking about
By Wendy ~Democrat For Life Jun 24th 2008 at 12:09 pm EDT
If anyone knows what Freedom Of Speech is Connie it is you and your friends as I've seen you use it quite often and very loudly. And I've been to other blogs and have seen the hate that you and your friends toss around.

You are using it right now in fact this is the 2nd time you have used the words "the party I grew up with" and I'll say it again. The party is still here, the people have changed go ask your friends as they are the ones that are doing every thing they can to split and change it.
