Hannity and Hillary

With primaries and caucuses beginning in what is simply a matter of weeks, we as free thinking people need to judiciously examine our choices and reflect upon our national dynamic as a whole.

There is going to be a substantial portion of the republican voting pool that is going to abandon it's party and they're going to secede for a number of reasons. Some of these people are going to be evangelicals who are leaving the party because they believe that neither the Bush Administration, nor whomever the republican nominee turns out to be, truly reflect their values. From the fumbling of domestic aid and relief to even recent attacks on children trying to engage this political process. There's also a business side of the republican party that is going to defect because of the fiscal irresponsibility of our President.

And let's face it, both of those groups will also be motivated by the war.

As the evangelicals feel out our candidates, and our unions continue to build support for John Edwards, we should be mindful of where the corporate defection heads. And this brings me to Mr. Hannity.

You see, it appears to me that the corporate heads have already hedged their bets, and it's on Hillary Clinton. This became translucent to me today as I listened to the Sean Hannity Show on the Radio today. Sean repeated two names more than any other in the forty minute span that I listened to. He gave slobbering support, sometimes with an air of a self begrudging manner, to Rudy Giuliani.

The name he uttered more often than any other was Hillary... Passionately trumpeting on about his 'Stop Hillary Express'. And why such a defensive stance? John McCain gave us his 'Straight Talk Express' and the title is forward moving, inviting, engaging. The best Sean can come up with is the 'Stop Hillary Express'?

And I began to think about why Sean has chosen Hillary to be his monster of the democratic party. Sean's passion for Hillary is nothing new, she's always been his favorite democrat.

You see, it's clear to me that Sean wants Hillary to be the democratic nominee just as much as some of you democratic supporters here. By demonizing Hillary in the sophomoric way that Sean does he is both delighting those who support the words that he is saying, and angering those who see his words for what they truly are. When he angers these people, he knowingly induces a sympathy for Hillary out of those people. It's how he can get the most response out of his listenership.

Why has Sean singled Hillary to be his DNC hopeful? She's as bought and paid for as he is. And he knows that if the G.O.P. loses the upcoming election, as it probably will, he will be better off with a Clinton presidency as opposed to an Edwards or Obama... Or for that matter a Paul.

Sean Hannity wants a Clinton v. Giuliani race because they are very similar candidates and it's his best of all possible worlds. And until it happens, he's going to keep repeating it.

It feels good to see more scrutiny of the "inevitable" front runner.

Repugs are trying........
By Cato Meador Oct 18th 2007 at 9:27 am EDT
.......to scare Dems into moving away from Hillary so that their nominee can run against one of our candidates that they actually think they can beat, like they did in 1972 when they wanted McGovern and got him. Just like they are doing with Hillary, they manipulated fear of nominating Edmund Muskie, because HE was the one THEY were actually scared of.

Yeah, lets do 'em a favor, and nominate someone that THEY want to run against....which is ANYONE BUT Hillary!
Re: Repugs are trying........
Hillary will bring out the republicans in force against her

Obama came in 3rd in the recent iowa straw poll for republicans which means many like him and he is a democrat

go play your false lead games elsewhere you fraud

Re: Thoughtful post.
Not only that but she will vote for their projects anyway she is a neocon republican in disguise as a democrat.

so either way they win if hillary gets the nod.

Right wing attacks
By Nicholas Wilt Oct 18th 2007 at 10:10 am EDT
I have an even more cynical view.

I think the right-wingers attack the candidate that they want to win the nomination.

John Edwards got quite a few campaign contributions after the Coultergeist attacked him. They learned their lesson.

They want Hillary to win the nomination, so they will focus their attacks on her.

This is exactly what I was writing about. They attack the candidate they want, not because they want to call her out to beat her, but because she's the democrat they want to win if they can't elect a republican.

There's another reason
By none Oct 18th 2007 at 12:36 pm EDT
There's another reason other than it would energize their base against Hillary. They, the repoops, are very aware there are many people, like me, who would not vote for Hillary under any circumstances. I would leave the Presidential part of my ballot blank and then move down to vote for the other Democrat candidates.
This attitude of someone 'must' vote for Hillary just because she is a Democrat is insanity. It is the same insanity the repoops used to get 'dubya' elected. That worked out really well didn't it. Hillary would just be a continuation of 'dubya'.

If the race comes down to Hillary and anyone other than Ron Paul, and neither Edwards or Kucinich make a third party run, I'm voting for Paul.

While I like some of the things Ron Paul says, with only a 37% environmental support vote record from the League of Conservation Voters, he'd not get my vote.

I don't like his pro-life view either, but he's the lesser of those three evils.
Re: There's another reason
Ditto at least ron paul would shake up the republican party. Yes i don't like many things he is about but i hate even worse the other republicans / hillary clinton.

Speaking of paul i just spent 4 days driving all over NH and he has over 1000 signs along NH roads and 6 giant signs so he is going to easily win NH
