I am firm believer that the US needs to get the troops out of a combat role in Iraq as soon as possible. McCain continues to push the notion that we can not leave until Al-Queda in Iraq is defeated. That either will take literally 100 years or could possibly never happen. The lastest from the Iraqi representatives is: (from the AP) "A July target for negotiating an agreement on future relations between Iraq and the United States is likely to be missed, an Iraqi government spokesman said on Tuesday. I don't think that we can meet this date. There is a difference in viewpoints between Iraq and the U.S. I don't think that time is enough to end this gap and to reach a joint understanding ... Therefore, we are not committed to July as a deadline," Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said that was unlikely to happen. But to add: Congress is going to receive testimony from two Iraqi parliamentarians opposed to the impending Bush-Maliki long-term-occupation deal. (hmmmmm do we stay or do we go?)
