Putting Palin On The Ticket Is Sexism At Its Worse !

Yes, you read the title correctly.

John Mc Cain put Palin on his ticket because she is a woman who he believes will gain votes from other women simply because she is a woman. That is a insult and a slap in the face to  all women. He did not put her on the ticket because she was Governor of "Low Populated" Alaska . He did not put her on the ticket because she would be able to step in as Commander in Chief if he were to pass away or become mentally unfit to carry out his term which is more likely to happen than not. He put her on the ticket because she is a woman. Pundits call this a gamble for a reason. It can , and I believe will , cause a major backlash because Americas women are not stupid.

You know, in the Black Community , we have many labels and  sayings for  African America politicians who's ideology and policies undermine the African American Community . The Clarence Thomas and Michael Steel GOP Black tokens , are a perfect example of the types of people I am talking about. And just like there are those within the African American Community that embrace Anti-Black positions and policies , there are female  politicians who are Anti-Woman. Sarah Palin is such a woman. She is ANTI-WOMAN !

Sarah Palin opposes a Woman's Right to Chose. She embraces the Right Wings agenda of getting Roe V Wade overturned. There is no doubt about this. She has made this clear even in her own life as she just recently gave birth to a baby whom she knew had Downs Syndrome. As a Pro-Choice women , I support and commend her for that. But also, as a Pro-Choice woman , I would support and commend her had she chosen not to carry the child full term. That's the key difference.(CHOICE) Palin could not share the same feelings if it were me. She would only support me if carried full term.

NOW (National Organization For Women) explains it better ;

Sen. John McCain's choice of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate is a cynical effort to appeal to disappointed Hillary Clinton voters and get them to vote, ultimately, against their own self-interest.

Gov. Palin may be the second woman vice-presidential candidate on a major party ticket, but she is not the right woman. Sadly, she is a woman who opposes women's rights, just like John McCain.

The fact that Palin is a mother of five who has a 4-month-old baby, a woman who is juggling work and family responsibilities, will speak to many women. But will Palin speak FOR women? Based on her record and her stated positions, the answer is clearly No.

In a gubernatorial debate, Palin stated emphatically that her opposition to abortion was so great, so total, that even if her teenage daughter was impregnated by a rapist, she would "choose life" -- meaning apparently that she would not permit her daughter to have an abortion.

Palin also had to withdraw her appointment of a top public safety commissioner who had been reprimanded for sexual harassment, although Palin had been warned about his background through letters by the sexual harassment complainant.

What McCain does not understand is that women supported Hillary Clinton not just because she was a woman, but because she was a champion on their issues. They will surely not find Sarah Palin to be an advocate for women.

Sen. Joe Biden is the VP candidate who appeals to women, with his authorship and championing of landmark domestic violence legislation, support for pay equity, and advocacy for women around the world.

Finally, as the chair of NOW's Political Action Committee, I am frequently asked whether NOW supports women candidates just because they are women. This gives me an opportunity to once again answer that question with an emphatic 'No.' We recognize the importance of having women's rights supporters at every level but, like Sarah Palin, not every woman supports women's rights.

John Mc Cain may gain a hand full of votes from disaffected Clinton supporters , low information women voters and female Republicans , but that's about it. The majority of us women will NEVER support that ticket because both John Mc Cain and Sarah Palin are ANTI-WOMAN. The fact that John Mc Cain put her on the ticket says more about what John Mc Cain thinks of women, than it does anything else. John Mc Cain is sending a message that insults the Women of America.

He's telling us that we are too stupid and too shallow to make the important decisions in our lives based on the issues . He's telling us that all he has to do is throw a woman on his ticket and we will automatically be inclined to vote for his ticket. It's time for Americas women to stand up to John Mc Cain and let him know that we are not tokens to be used for political gain and that we reject his blatant Sexist tactics.

Be Pro-Life by Improving Life for the Living
By Tonya Aug 30th 2008 at 2:16 pm EDT (Updated Aug 30th 2008 at 2:16 pm EDT)
They have already begun to plaster her Down syndrome baby around as evidence of her pro-life stance. I'm glad she had the choice and the life circumstances that facilitated HER decision. In these difficult times were 70% of African American women are heads of household and approaching 50% in the general public, women need to be free to assess their own life circumstances.

Republicans have fought emergency contraceptives that could have prevented the decision altogether, they cut planned parenthood budgets that promote prevention; and when ignorance can be deadly, their answer is abstinence only programs. Have you heard of the HIV crisis in DC?

How about being pro-life, advocating for the improvement of the quality of life for the living breathing women and children already struggling outside of a womb!!
Speaking of which, due to this administration

No form of birth control what so ever is subsidized by the United states in Africa.

They preach abstinence can you believe it?

Clinics run the risk of losing their funding if condoms are even found on the premises.

Can you believe that? Here we have a virtual third world continent, with women raped right and left, with absolutely no funding for the pill, not even condoms from the U. S. government.

That is criminal.

Yeah, the current republican pro-life administration just sits back and watches, as things get worse and worse for the Africans, but they raise bloody hell in Iraq over oil.

IMHO, Republican pro lifers....are one very big and major cause of over-population which is scientifically linked to starvation, child abuse/neglect, civil war/violence, disease, poverty, pollution and global warming.

Planned parenthood education can go along way towards helping a nation of over-populated starving rape victims.

I guess Palin doesn't have to worry about any of that, I am sure she has the best care for her "newborn".

She named all of her other kids in her acceptance speech but left the "newborn" unnamed, as if to say she has downs syndrome, that's all that matters. I am sure she will have all the help she needs, and is "well prepared".

To assume, however, that all women should be in a position to say yes to such a challenge, or even the challenge of bringing any baby into the world shows a gross insensitivity to the personal rights of others.

No woman should be forced to carry through with an unwanted pregnancy.

As much as possible should be done to make all other forms of birth control readily available to all women, so the traumatic choice of abortion can be avoided all together.

We don't even know if she tested to see if it was a going to have Downs, which is consistent with no birth control or abortion. I respect her right to her beliefs, but American women (less the fringe which believe the same as her) should see this as what it is. An insult to all Americans and especially to Hillary R. Clinton.

As if to say that the same reproductive parts make her equal to the task. You all know I supported Hillary way back before I started studying Obama's positions. I hope this is the opportunity for Hillary to once again prove her metal by politely putting this woman in her place.

We know that Obama and Biden as men must be very careful not to say or do anything to appear to be picking on the little lady. Maybe that is the plan, make everyone feel sorry for her and Mr. old man.

Feminist

You know I am not much of a Feminist. Because I am black, I have so many other issues going on in my community to fight against and speak against, often issues that affect ALL women I tend to let others fight that battle.

But this is one time, I am livid and you have hit the nail on the head. Especially when her own mother-in-law says she does not know what she has to offer other than the fact that she is a woman. Moreover, her mother-in-law said she may vote for Obama.
