When will I be able to have the same protections in my relationships that heterosexual people have. I pay my taxes (which in Utah goes to educating the multitudes of fascist/cultist spawn). If my partner decides to end our relationship, where is my protection? I have invested in our lives together as much as my partner, but since we used his VA loan to purchase our house, we had to keep it in his name. I don't care about marraige per se, but I do want equal protection under the law in my relationships.
EQUAL! I don't need special rights, just equal.

You will get equal rights

when either A) Democrats run the country, or
B) you move to Canada.
I have a number of friends here in Canada who are in same gender relationships, some are married, some not. Oddly, they have to take some crap from US Customs when they visit America, and a customs official actually said to a friend of mine, "You'll have to declare seperately, because we have decided not to recognize your marriage as valid."

Ouch. That was a bad idea, and in the end, the guy who said it understood what a bad idea it had been. No seperate declarations were filed.

Next- I'm a Mormon and your bigoted and hate filled remarks were hurtful. Could you please try to be more tolerant and accepting?

I didn't mention Mormons, but if that is what you take from my post, there must be some validity to the statement, don't you think? Mormonism is a cult, and most Mormon Republicans in Utah are fascist. Mormonism is inherently fascist- believes in One World Government, big business, and class subjugation. Fear is also the cheif motivator for Mormonism. The Mormon cult controls through fear and money. The Mormon cult is the largest stock holder in Halliburton and the last major demographic group in the US that still supports the slaughter that is the Middle East.

Did I disrespect you in some way? Or is it just a one sided thing?

It was obvious that your previous statement referred to Mormons because you pointed out that you were in Utah, and the world "cult" has a religous connotation. When most people cross reference Utah and religion, the Mormon church comes up.

I'm sorry for whatever experiences have such hatred, and if I said something hurtful toward you, then let me know because that was not my intention.

Yes, you mentioned Mormons, if only by implication. Utah is recognized as a Mormon-majority state. So drop the innocent act.

Let me see if I understand this... you're begging for equal treatment for your social group while you're claiming that a different social group has no validity? I guess you'd like to be on the up-side of EQUAL, eh?

As for your mortgage, have your partner sign a quit claim deed to you and him and re-fi. Sorry if you have to pay a few points extra, but that's how it works.

Looks like you have issues far worse than your mortgage, though.

Things will change for the better...

I feel that the DOMA and other discriminatory laws are the last gasp of a dying cultural fringe. We are getting to the point where everyone who is not gay has a friend or relative who is affected by this unequal status. The tide is turning. Soon, you will have those benefits, so hold on!

I was prepared to be on your side until you

spewed out your ignorance on all of us. ( I am not a Mormon, but I will damn well fight for their right to be. It is a church, not a cult, get a life).

If you are always this crabby you better be concerned about what happens if your partner leaves you!

Whoa there buddy

I agree, you surely do need to drop the innocent act. You definitely couldn't have referred to any random "fascist-cultist spawn" or whatever other propaganda you just pooped into the general public's view, considering that, as you know, the majority of the people that live in your state are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of which I am also a member. The church also is not a cult, nor are we fascist. We claim no political alliance. I, like my mother, was agreeing with you up to that certain point where you decided to insert that bigoted, close minded remark that was OBVIOUSLY directed towards my church.

Also, my personal preference is that one would be straightforward with their insults, rather than try and do it in such an underhanded tone. Oh wait, actually, insults in a political forum aren't really necessary are they? It's quite childish behavior.

Remember that a closed mouth gathers no foot.
