Like so many of you, I was deeply saddened by the president's lack of respect for our judicial system and contempt for the rule of law.
I could observe that the president thinks himself the only judge that matters in this case, and that the American people -- who put their faith in this system -- witnessed nothing more than a show trial.
I could write the Washington press corps and demand they ask the president if he plans to pardon or commute sentences for Jack Abramhoff, or any of the other loyal "Bushies" who have been convicted of felonies.
I could bemoan the fact that this president's actions have undermined the foundations of American justice and have done unrepairable damage to our national morale.
But instead, all I can think is this: Democratic Senators and Congresspeople take heed. The president has never hesitated to wield the power vested in him by the Constitution. It is past time you recognize that YOU have power as well, DO NOT BE AFRAID WIELD IT!!
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, pursuant to my powers under Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, do hereby commute the prison terms imposed by the sentence upon the said Lewis Libby to expire immediately SOURCEI could take this time to write about how the president's decision makes a mockery of our justice system, and I could ask why we wasted 2 years and millions of tax dollars he was going to let Libby off the hook anyway.

The Democratic majority must stop working with this low life. No more judicial appointments. No more white house desired legislation. If Bush cannot be impeached, he must be made impotent.
I am frustrated that the Democratic leadership has failed us in stopping the war. They failed us by failing to filibuster Alito. If they fail us again, I will leave the party.
On my 18th birthday, I proudly registered as a member of the Democratic party. If the party fails to stop the madness, I will leave after after 28 years of loyal support.
The congress needs to stop the needless slaughter of our Brave American Soldiers in the Bush/Cheney immoral war.
Thank you
Bush is determined to stay the course, and our majority is too slim in the senate to cut off the funding.... we're really stuck here.
Elected official represent those who went to the polls and voted them into office. They are obligated to that each time they vote for a bill, because if they don't, they will lose their job at the next election. It's all simple, why can't they all realize this. Pelosi won't consider impeachment, does she have a choice, if the voters who put those representatives in place all decide that they want him impeached, if they present the evidence which meets the definition, then those elected officials are obligated to vote the voice of their electors, not the pundits, not the lobbyists, not Pelosi, but the voice of their electors.
And while I'm on the box, lets lose the name Scooter, the man is an adult, convicted of a felony, HIS NAME IS LEWIS. Thank you and good night.
THIS WILL HELP THE DEMS.
WE BEEN IN THE SAME SITUATION BEFORE AS DEMS.
IF IN THE FUTURE ANYTHING WILL COME OUR WAY IN SIMILARITY WE WILL HAVE SOMETHING AS A REFERENCE.
They have got to stop hedging for the future. The republic is in danger today. Now. Forget 2008. 2008 will work itself out. If you don't act now, Cheney's fourth branch of government will enable another terrorist attack and there won't be another election.
