QUEEN’S BLESSING: “bless their hearts” they keep trying, “gosh darn it!”
KEEP THIS REPONSE IN CASE YOU HAVE REPUBLICAN FRIENDS WHO SEND YOU CLAPTRAP EMAILS ABOUT OBAMA AND FRANK RAINES--THEIR LASTEST DESPERATE ATTEMPT.
I just got an email from a friend expaining how the current financial meltdown is entirely the fault of the Democrats and Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae and Barack Obama “whose chief financial advisor is Franklin Raines. . .” [Franklin Raines not only is not Obama’s chief financial advisor, he has never been a member of Obama’s campaign staff. Barack estimates that he and Raines have talked for maybe five minutes in their lives, and Frank Raines himself even released a statement saying that he is not an advisor to Barack Obama “nor have I provided his campaign with advice on housing or economic mattters. The non-partisan fact-check website Snopes.com looked into these smears and the conclusions about Barack and the Fannie Mae executives should not be surprising: “None of them has (or apparently ever had) ongoing roles with the campaign as chief economic advisors.”
Republicans wish. However this is 2008, not 2000 or even 2004. That was then and this is now. Democrats are slinging the Republicans filthy mud right back at them before it even barely touches the wall. You can tell how desperate the Republicans are by how often they change the pile of crap they are throwing. Ayers only lasted about 24 hours. Then they figured out THAT wad ended up in a dead-end alley, now they have turned to the topic of Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae and Frank Raines.
THE NEW 2008 PLAYBOOK FOR A DEMOCRAT: WHENEVER A REPUBLICAN ACCUSES A DEMOCRAT OF WRONGDOING, ASSUME THAT IT IS THE REPUBLICAN WHO HAS DONE THE WRONG AND YOU WILL BE CORRECT IN YOUR ASSUMPTION ABOUT 98% OF THE TIME. THAT IS THE OLD ROVIAN STRATEGY: ACCUSE OTHERS OF WHAT YOU ARE GUILTY OF.
So following the rules of our new playbook let’s see what the REAL involvement is with Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae:
On Freddy Mac:
The firm of John McCain’s campaign manager, Rick Davis was paid $15,000 a month UP THROUGH LAST MONTH. Rick Davis took a leave from Davis Manafort for the presidential campaign, but as an equity holder he continues to benefit from its income. No one at David Manafort other than Mr. Davis was involved in efforts on Freddie Mac’s behalf, the people familiar with the arrangement said. Freddie Mac’s payments of roughly $500,000 to Davis Manafort began in late 2005, immediately after Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae disbanded an advocacy coalition they has set up and hired Mr. Davis to run. From 2000 to the end of 2005, Mr. Davis received nearly $2 million as president of the coalitions, the Homeownership Alliance, which was created to help them oppose new regulations. As president of the Homeownership Alliance, Mr. Davis received $30,000 to $35,00 a month.

Looks like this piece of mud boomeranged right back where it belongs–in the face of the McCain Campaign.

Rush,
I heard you blame ACORN, Raines, and liberals for the current financial meltdown. Then you praise Sarah Palin and suggest that she will be the reason that conservatives rally to the McCain/Palin ticket. The problem is Sarah has already placed the blame on PREDATORY LENDORS in her debate with Biden on Oct 2 in St Louis.
"You darn right it was the predator lenders" said Palin. "There was greed and corruption on Wall Street."
Too bad you weren't helping her with debate prep. As usual, you conveniently ignore facts you don't like.
Please blame McCain for corrupting you new heroine.
From a casual listener and life-time liberal.
