Oct. 23: At a noon press conference in Des Moines, Iowa today, Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Joe Biden announced his groundbreaking comprehensive health care plan for all Americans.

"I pledge that during the first 90 days of my Administration, I will bring together groups on all sides of this debate and seize the historic opportunity we have before us to make health care in this country both universal and affordable."

The Biden National Health Care Plan includes four major initiatives:
* (1) Cover all Children
* (2) Access for Adults
* (3) Reinsurance For Catastrophic Cases
* (4) Encouraging Prevention and Modernization.

Here is a broad-stroke overview of one portion of Senator Biden's Health Care Plan, health care coverage for children. The additional details of this portion, and the rest of the Plan, can be found in the Web link, below.

Cover All Children
The path to universal health care starts with making sure that the most vulnerable, our children, have health insurance. Today, nine million children are uninsured.

The Biden Plan expands the State Childrenâ??s Health Insurance Program to at least 300 % of the federal poverty level ($61,950 annual income for a family of four) and allows families to buy into SCHIP with sliding scale premiums and co-payments based on family income.

It also extends coverage to at least age 21, and emphasizes wellness and prevention by eliminating co-payments for physicals, vaccinations and screenings, including vision care.

Senator Joe Biden's comprehensive Health Care Plan, including details on the four major initiatives listed above, can be read in its entirety HERE.

It ain't universal if there's just "access for adults". Any insurance company involvement is just another sham.

Go to his website and read his proposals. It is just the beginning. His proposal is well thought out and states that he will work with all sectors of the medical world to create a more perfected health care system so all American's have access to health care.

I've read it and it is a good plan

Hey, thanks for the post, I needed to read the whole plan. I agree with you, it is a Universal Health Plan. If the Repoo candidate is elected we won't have a plan at all. Several of the plans are workable. It is foolhardy to think a plan could be approved without fixing the insurance companies. A single-payor plan is pie in the sky dreaming. The insurance companies aren't going to just go away, they need to be regulated, which this plan accomplishes.
