Obama: The Media's Choice

Its quite amazing how the media reports only what is favorable to Obama. Last week, he spoke at a synagogue in Boca Raton, FL. When he arrived, he was supposed to speak from the beamer (stage). However, he was asked to wear a yarmulka. Obama refused. Consequently, Obama was not allowed to speak from the beamer (stage). Instead, they had to rearrange all of the seats so he could speak from the floor. The media reported that the speech started late but they did not say why. Come on. What's the big deal with wearing a yarmulka? Wearing one doesn't make you jewish. Heck, the pope wears a beanie on his head too. Talk about being out of touch. What did Obama expect? Afterall, he was visiting a jewish synagogue on Boca Raton, FL.

But had I been in the same position-- yamulka it is! We have a war the press won't cover and a candidate the press won't cover.
When in Rome...
By Democrat in Pompano Beach, FL May 27th 2008 at 11:15 pm EDT
I have many friends that are not jewish. I have been at many bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs and have observed them wear yarmulkas as a sign of respect. Jews wear yarmulkas as a reminder that god is always above and watching. Its symbolic. Nothing more, nothing less.

Obama is very prejudiced
By jb1985 May 27th 2008 at 11:19 pm EDT
We saw plenty of that with Wright and then how Obama treated the Wright situation...
The real trick though is the fact that Obama wrote a book that Wright inspired, Wright inspired Obama to accept Christ and it goes on and on...
The black theology in that Trinity church should tell you everything.
Obama does hate the white and the jews just as Wright openly said....Obama followed Wright for too many years not to share the same philosophy....
Disgusting the media would have jumped all over that with any other candidate or politician.....

JB, let go of the Wright situation. Wright was good enough to counsel Bill Clinton during his turbulent times.
Disparaging comments will not be tolerated.

The source is my Mother!
By Democrat in Pompano Beach, FL May 27th 2008 at 11:26 pm EDT
My mother is the source of the story. The Boca Jews were furious with Obama. Still, the press reported the affair in a favorable light. Obama was permitted to stand on the beamer so long as he wore a yarmulka. In fact, many non-jews have stood on the beamer. Local priests have stood on the beamer. You Obama supporters are constantly trying to overlook the truth. The story which I posted is 100% true and accurate.

I'm truly impressed they invited him at all. And saddened that he has once again given me reason to be apprehensive about voting for him.

If that indeed happened that would have been front page news. You need reliable sources people can go to, unfortunately for politics in here our mom's word doesn't count.

..My ex-husband was Catholic - I'm Baptist, and before my wedding, I had to sign paperwork stating that any children will be raised Catholic. I think that's a bit much; however, I do not understand much about the Catholic religion.

I feel children should be brought up in both churches - then they can choose when older.

Yarmulka
By Sue Sue's Straight Talk Express May 27th 2008 at 11:31 pm EDT
I have mixed feelings about this one. Why don't we send him a message and ask him what his reasoning was for it. I think I would have viewed him wearing one as pandering. Perhaps it would not have been seen that way by Jewish people. Perhaps he felt wearing one was pandering.

I work with someone whose sister is very put off about all of the religious overtones in this race for president. She is so put off by how openly christian Obama is that she did not vote for him.

You know all of us of faith don't always consider the fact that there are plenty of people that are not people of faith.

And the whole tradition of wearing a yarmulka started in Europe as a symbol that you were jewish. From what I understand that is why reformed Jews do not wear them only Conservative Jews where them. Is that true my jewish friends?

Reasons given for wearing a Yamaka today include:

* recognition that God is "above" humankind
* "acceptance" of the 613 mitzvot (commandments)
* "identification" with the Jewish people
* demonstration of the "ministry" of all Jews

Thank you for the information. I will save this so that I can educate my granddaughter when she asks me this in the future as I know she will (smile).

I live 20 minutes away, never heard a thing on the news. The only one I've heard blast Obama was Lou Dobbs tonight he was angry at everyone.

Wasn't in this country and wasn't running for office. Again, they are politicians whether we like it or not.

Yarmulke Gate
By ~^V^~ May 28th 2008 at 12:26 am EDT
Dude, a number of people on here have scoured the internet (myself included) trying to confront this factually. It just doesn't exist and would be an even greater blight than Rev Gate if it did. Michael Medved would be all over it, along with Michael Savage, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Ingram, Hannity, etc. Anyone that alludes to his secret Muslim allegiance would be splattering this poo everywhere it would stick.

Your mom witnessed this from her vantage point in the room then, firsthand? I can't even believe I'm asking you to validate it...

BTW, my mom said she saw Hillary's Illuminati tattoo in a steam bath over on the Upper East Side. Hey, my MOM said it, you know? Irrefutable. Mom.

Uhh... Numerous pictures of the event show happy, smiling (yarmulke-wearing) Jews standing around to greet him (Obama). Not just MSM either, but local Florida Jewish online periodicals. Don't you think THEY would have issue with this and NOT post happy, smiling Semitic-types?

Now, I know he keeps his hair really short... Nothing to clip it on perhaps?

A few Clinton backers attended the speech, and some said after the address that they were moved by Obama's charismatic remarks and impressed by his command of the issues. Some still expressed reservations about voting for him.

"It's a real hard decision to make," said Jacki Rosen, a curator who lives in Parkland. "He was so charismatic and so accessible. ... He's everything he says he is." Yet Rosen said she isn't willing to abandon Clinton.
Democratic Senator - Robert Wexler, Boca Raton...

is Jewish and accompanied Obama to the event.

Wexler's mom said Obama insisted on wearing a Dr. Suess hat. A senator's mom said it... My mom heard her say it.
