Just Because We Don't Support Obama Doesn't Make Us Republicans!

I am a Democrat. Still, I cannot vote for the junior Senator with just 3 years experience in Washington, D.C. Perhaps if he had served as Governor, I might reconsider. However, Obama's resume is as thin, to say the least. Yes we can... It sounds great but I'm not a believer. In 2000, George Bush told America that he was a "uniter" and that he had a long history of "reaching across the aisles" while serving as Governor in Texas. Well, we all saw how that worked out. The Democrats are poised to win more seats in the House and Senate. I don't know how necessary it will be for Obama to work with the GOP. Chances are he won't. Afterall, he is so far to the left that there's practically no chance that he will be able to build consensus with the Republicans. As much as I hate to say it, McCain will get my vote. I don't think that he will pack the Supreme Court with judges to overturn Roe v. Wade. I don't consider McCain a typical Republican and I definitely don't see him as Mc-Bush. The tax cuts will expire and the Democratic Congress will not allow them to be renewed. I trust McCain on the War more so than Obama. If I had my druthers, I would be voting for Hillary Clinton or John Edwards. Now, all of you Obamaniacs, blast me. Tell me I'm a troll. Criticize me and tell me that I'm stupid. That appears to be your style. Sincerely yours, an Attorney in South Florida.

Then you don't watch TV or read. McCain has promised to put the most conservative judges on the court. Where the hell do you people keep your heads at night.

I have to ask then
By Liz Jun 12th 2008 at 12:06 am EDT
If you don't support Obama, and you claim to be a democrat, then what is that you hope to accomplish on this post? What is your goal?

We cannot have two candidates for president. Obama is the nominee.

We are trying to unify to fight McCain. You tell me how posts on our DNC site that tear down our nominee help us to achieve that goal.

Why would you put up the URL of that DISGUSTING site?!!
For those of you that don't know PUMA stands for
"Party Unity My A**"
It is a group that has formed from smaller sites that claim to have 18 million members which we all know is BS...18 million is the number of votes Senator Clinton received. In other words these people have the nerve to think they can speak for everyone who voted for the Senator. I am one of those voters and want nothing to do with this radical, hateful, raciest group.

And to the originally poster I am well aware how you people work. One of you comes in and post your foul statements then another one of your worker bees follow up. You're not fooling anyone, you people have been doing these things since Senator Clinton asked her party, which is also mine for UNITY. If you can not listen to whom you claim to support you are NOT a supporter, nor are you a Democrat as you have no idea what the Democratic Party stands for.

My goal is to engage in intellectual diaglogue with a view towards convincing my fellow democrats that McCain is a better choice for president than is Obama. Frankly, both candidates pale in comparison to Clinton. Still, I am hopeful that the Democrats pick up many house seats and a few Senate seats. I thought that this site was for Democrats to voice their opinions. I didn't realize that by expressing doubts about Obama I was violating any laws.

McCain's Statements in 2000
By Democrat in Pompano Beach, FL Jun 12th 2008 at 12:07 am EDT
When McCain was running for president in 2000, he stated that he would not seek to appoint judges to overturn Roe v. Wade. He explained that to do so would simply lead to unsafe and illegal abortions. I'm sure that he will appoint conservative judges but if history has taught us anything, its hard to predict how a Supreme Court judge will behave after appointment.

you say what you say with conviction, that much is true. i will not fault you for anything you are speaking, its your right

but...

mccain quoted here from spartanburg, nc -

"I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned," the Arizona senator told about 800 people in South Carolina, one of the early voting states.

McCain also vowed that if elected, he would appoint judges who "strictly interpret the Constitution of the United States and do not legislate from the bench."

i understand you will not vote for obama and i wont attack you for it. just want you to know what mccain said, maybe you already know
McCain has Flipped and Flopped
By Democrat in Pompano Beach, FL Jun 12th 2008 at 12:13 am EDT
That's not what I heard. I suppose McCain has pulled a John Kerry; i.e., flip-flop. McCain has flipped a lot so as to appeal to the Republican base. However, he is not a typical Republican and I do not believe that he will tow the right wing conservative party line at all.

McCain and Abortion

In August 1999, McCain told the San Francisco Chronicle that he would "not support repeal of Roe vs Wade" because it would force women to undergo illegal operations. He has subsequently said that he was speaking about the need to change the "culture of America", and supports the repeal of Roe vs Wade.

I am not an Obamanite or whatever the name you used, but how in your right mind vote for McCain. I don't see the logic in this at all. I was for Edwards he conceded, I moved on. All of us knew it would come down to one person, and it just happens Mr. Obama is that person.

I just cant see your logic, when you know if McCain gets elected there will be in the least four more years in Iraq, not to mention Mr. McCain has made clear his agenda is a war in Iran. Do you really want that? Do you really think he going to look out for you?

And we also need to think serious about the judges he may put in the Supreme Court. I for one am not as optimistic as you where that is concerned. There are judges there that are holding on by a thread just because they want the Republicans out of the oval office before they retire.

If you can't support Obama, don't vote thats your choice, but for God sake don't vote for McCain. This country is already screwed up almost beyond repair, and McCain is only going to screw it up more. I urge you to reconsider your logic.

I agree with your basic premise
By Pale Rider Jun 12th 2008 at 12:31 am EDT
HOWEVER, those like Jenni and others who insist on coming in here posting nothing but drivel from Republican blogspots and articles that are to be found on right-wing sites, who do nothing BUT attack Obama?

If they're so damned Democrat-ic, what are they doing going to those sites in the first place?????????????

TROLLS.

Like it or not; there will be Democrats who will not agree with Senator Obama as the Democratic Nominee. Wouldn't you rather have voices of dissent here on the DNC web site so that this discussion can be out in the open or would you rather just have those individuals who may disagree with your opinion just go away, contribute to other campaigns, campaigne for other candidates and vote for someone else other than your candidate?

I would thing that you would want all Democrats to voice their opinions here so that you would know what your facing in the fall from members with in the party.

Still a Democrat

OK... as an attorney let's look at the facts. You say you are a democrat but you plan on voting republican. Isn't that analogous to saying you are innocent but pleading guilty?
