Yes the surge has reduced violence in Iraq-- Our men and women and our military families have made huge sacrifices to do this.... I support them and this has nothing to do with them failing as they have successfully done their job!!-- Our government has failed our troupes as well as the American People by not holding the IRAQI government accountable...

I thought the ultimate goal of the surge was to give the power back to the Iraqi government-- While we were "surging" they should have been working their asses off to get their shit together so we can withdraw-- but instead they took their summer recess... So we can surge 'till the cows come home but if they aren't willing to work at getting their government in check, military police in charge the SURGE is a FAILURE...

Surge has worked

The ultimate goal of the surge was to reduce the violence in certain areas so the Iraq military could take that area over. And they have. The surge is working as designed. One only need open their eyes to see this. Yes, we are not out yet and violence is down. If you wish to define a different goal of the surge then in your view then you will draw a opposite conclusion. You will be hard press to sell that the surge did not work as designed. Sorry that Obama cannot recognize the hard work of our troops in accomplishing this task but politically I understand why he cannot admit it either.

Terry, your candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton, revealed the surge for what it always was, a way to kick the can down the road to lay the problem on the doorsteop of the next president.

No matter how long US troops remain in Iraq, Iraq will never be our ally. They hate Israel and are already selling their oil to China.

Saying the surge worked is like saying Reagan is a great war president for defeating Granada.

Thought we were going to debate the success of the surge not the war.

I do believe the surge has worked and violence has been reduced and some provinces are actually now under Iraqi control and plans are in the make to see us out of there by 2010 I do believe which matches with the 16 month withdraw plan that Obama was planning to put in action.

Afghanistan and Iraq are 2 totally different matters and cannot be compared and if I read Obama clearly he is planning on increasing our troops in Afghanistan by creating a surge there that will try to get AQ out of the loop.

when did Bush take us out of Afghanistan? Unless the media is wrong I still read daily on how hard our soldiers have it over there.

.....something of a surprise....like anyone would think that a HUGE surge of the toughest, best trained, best equipped, most lethal military in the history of the world wouldn't change the dynamics in these areas. OF COURSE THEY DID!

NOW GET'EM THE HELL OUTTA THERE!!!
