The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has proposed new rules that would have a dramatic effect on the storage and transportation of ammunition and handloading components such as primers or black and smokeless powder. The proposed rule indiscriminately treats ammunition, powder and primers as "explosives." Among many other provisions, the proposed rule would:
* Prohibit possession of firearms in commercial "facilities containing explosives" - an obvious problem for your local gun store.
* Require evacuation of all "facilities containing explosives" - even your local Wal-Mart - during any electrical storm.
* Prohibit smoking within 50 feet of "facilities containing explosives."
It does not take a lot to realize that this would be such a problem for stores and companies all along the distribution chain that it would be the end of your ability to buy a box of bullets at any local esstablishment. If you want to buy a box of bullets or shells soon after this regulation is passed, you will be doing it through mail order, and paying a very high "explosives transportation" rate from they courior. This will not be a hazmat fee, this will be explosives transportation. USPS will not deliver them after this, and I doubt UPS or FedEx will be able to either. This regulation will effectively be the most efficient form of gun control ever concieved. Public comment on the proposed rule ends on July 12th. Please tell OSHA what you think of this proposed rule.
I couldn't make a direct link to the comments section, you will need to choose OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) from 'step 2' and "proposed rules" from 'step 3'. From the 4 results, the proposed rule to read and comment on is the "Explosives" rule.
Please let everyone you know who would be effected by this know about it.

Anyway, that's my long-winded way of saying that proposal does nothing to keep us safer and only limits law-abiding people from accessing ammunition necessary for hunting, protection, or target shooting!!!
Thanks for bringing this to our attention!!!
