MY BROTHER JUST GOT BACK FROM HIS THIRD TOUR IN IRAQ!!!!

He is back safe and sound on U.S. soil. Thank goodness. I am so grateful. I know that so many people cannot say that about their loved ones.

And PBers-- he is already scheduled to go back. Please, please, please let's elect a Democratic President. I don't want my little brother to have a FIFTH tour, okay?

Thank you!

I feel your pain

I have nephew who is in the Marines special forces. We haven't heard from him since January and they aren't giving any information. But, I know and you know we are in so deep that shit is up to our waist. It won't be that easy for us to get out.. It's called cause and effect...

Yeah. My brother is Army Special Ops. The first two tours, he emailed regularly. This time-- almost no communication. He used to feel like he was helping to make a difference. His view this time is much less hopeful... :(

Yes We Can

We can get out of Iraq, and save many like your brother from repeated tours of duty. All we have to do is remember our goal is to defeat John McCain.

Glad for you

I cannot wait to see him. I've been thinking about him hard this past weekend. Last year, he spent Memorial Day here with us. We took him to Arlington National Cemetery-- that was such an emotional visit for him, and for us. And here we are a year later-- thank God he isn't there...

I remember when you fist joined the blog....and your worrying for your brother. I kind of feel like he's OUR little brother, too. Hugs and tears for what he's been through....and you, too.

Wonderful

I remember when one of my brothers came home from Nam and he stepped through the doorway at O'hare in his uniform and my mom broke down. He was thin, he was different. But guess what? When we got home and I reached to change the dial on the TV (yeah, no remote), he still grabbed my arm and said, "I was watching that."

I was in the service prior to Desert Storm but my career brother was on CBS news when they first went in. He came home different too.

My dad would not talk very much about WWII at all.

War changes people, but you know what, blood doesn't. Sometimes I think it makes family love one another more.

Hug him for all of us Americans, he is a hero in every sense of the word.
