Just a little tidbit for those of you that don't know, if Senator Obama happens to be elected the POTUS, it is up to our governor to select the person that replaces him in the Senate. So, rumor has it that his top two choices are Emil Jones and Jesse Jackson Jr. It should also be noted there is a strong chance Mayor Daley's brother is going to be running for Governor in 2010.
For those of you that have never followed politics in IL, it is a dirty game. More corruption in IL is in the forecast.

Notice there are no links, no sources.
Consider the source of the blog.
So, here's my question directed to Marie. If you dislike Mel so much, why read and comment on her posts? Why not just skip them and move right along to something you'd rather read - like some of my old posts in the archives... or just look for your friends or your favorite groups and comment on those...
WHY COMMENT here if all you have to say is "consider the source"?
I'm from the South and Chicago politics is kind of legendary in the stories we've all seen in movies and read in books. I'm willing to admit that could be as much myth as fact, but I have no info.
If you have credible information that refutes Mel's post, then share it and there's no need to add "consider the source".
Serioulsy...do you think gossip with no source really has a place here? A place where people look for information?
I respectfully disagree if you do.
Turns out, I found 2 sources that SUPPORT what Mel wrote.
She wrote that the ILLINOIS GOVERNOR would choose Obama's replacement in the Senate. Here ya go.
"WASHINGTON -- If the nation's voters decide to send Sen. Barack Obama to the White House, there will be another election of sorts in his home state.
Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a two-term Democrat at odds with members of his own party, would alone choose who succeeds the state's junior senator."

The other one is from the Chicago Tribune July 19th. look it up for yourself. Obviously Mel was telling the truth.
I found your references.
End of story.
The qualitative statement "It's a dirty game." was probably Mel's opinion. Which you are free to disagree with. But opinion is only that, and we are each entitled to have and express one.
The popular assumption is that the new senator would be one of Illinois' 11 Democratic U.S. House members, particularly Jan Schakowsky of Evanston, Jesse Jackson Jr. of Chicago or Luis Gutierrez of Chicago. The governor also could tap someone from the Illinois General Assembly or a statewide officeholder, or even someone outside the world of politics.
Increasingly, the name of Illinois Senate President Emil Jones comes up, both on Capitol Hill and Springfield. The powerful Chicago pol has been an important ally for the governor, and is widely credited for helping to raise Obama's profile for a Senate run while Obama was in the state Senate

Why is this so offensive to you, Marie?
If so, then by all means, pop out a fucking SOURCE for that. If not, then shine this whole argument up nice and shiny, turn it sideways, and cram it.
no slilly songs to sleep by tonight?
Same as the rest of the Hillary supporter,
Spirited Dona
You are wonderful and that's it!
Secondly, Marie is it?, if you are elected to something in the Democratic party here in IL, I know it has to be from up there in Chicago because the Democrats down state would chew you up and spit you out.
Thirdly, it is true in the places like the press, that Gov. Blago is strongly considering these two as replacements and I certainly don't understand what your post about this being a fear for people really means.
"this psot is not true and I will not let it go by when an untruth is being told to scare people."
They are Democrats from Chicago that you elected. If they are so fearful and it scares people, get them the hell out of office. What are they doing there in the first place.
Forthly, here is a credible link about Daley's brother wanting to scratch his itch - Link
Fifthly, do not call me a liar. If you read the post, it said rumor has it, rumor is rumor in the political world and the press plays on it. But Emil Jones runs the government in IL right now and if you are so involved you would know that. What he has done with the budget and Mike Madigan, the leader, is making a joke. I personally cannot wait until Blago shakes hands with Ryan in prison.
And last but not least, you little lady, will not be able to get the best of me on this forum. You just might have bit off a little more than you can chew this time.
Once again, thanks Anne and Dona. Appreciate the help.
I guess by the standards Mel sets we will never have a politician from Illinois in national office, because it seems that each and every one of them is tainted. Oh, and politicians from all other states are squeaky clean.
