Why is it so difficult for some people on this site to understand there are some of us that will not support Senator Obama? This does not make us any less of a Democrat at all. Many of us will work for state and local candidates, but cannot, nor will not, vote for him.

This site is the Democratic Party site and while he may be the presumptive nominee, he is not the Democratic Party. By calling people Republicans or trolls or some initial I saw yesterday that I still didn't understand, you are driving more people away.

Today was a big day for bashing PUMA. Why do you fear them? The energy devoted to trashing these people could have been used constructively on posting about a local candidate or state candidate.

It is no wonder I feel this isn't my party anymore and that is after 40+ years of being a registered Democrat.

Did you see the post that I wrote, which said that I didnt think Hillary or any of her supporters should have to kiss Barack's ass?

I wrote that in a post. I believe it. I mean it. No one needs to kiss his ass. I'm not doing it.

But I DO want to fight Republicans. I'm a little strapped for how to do that without supporting the Dems, though. No?

The Dems are leaving more and more from Obama, too much Republican policies being adopted. Sorry, I know you worship him. He is not the one.

I Get You
By Z Rho Jul 6th 2008 at 9:03 pm EDT
Mel, I for one do understand how you feel even though I support Obama. I can't believe anyone on this site could believe that you are anything but an honest Democrat. PUMA is being bashed because it's a group of people who don't support our presumtive nominee. I do agree time could be better spent on supporting Dems across the country.

Re: Absolutely
By snakelips Jul 6th 2008 at 10:28 pm EDT
LOL!!!

This is something we Republicans are considering. We want a more conservative candidate. McCain is too soft on illegal immigration, freedom of speech, social programs, energy policy, climate change, etc. Are we to have a 4 party run-off this fall?!? That wouldn't be good, it'd be like Clinton coming to office again!

Re: I Get You

No, if Hillary were our nominee I would be supporting her as many Clinton supporters are supporting Obama. For those who continue to trash Obama I agree with you, but Mel has always been a straight arrow even though we may disagree. There is a certain Obama supporter that is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way including Obama people.
Re: I Get You

Obama does not give us the hope for jobs, our children and this Country. He has too much baggage and flip flops like a pancake. Not safe!
Re: I Get You
By Sandi Jul 6th 2008 at 9:35 pm EDT
Now lets be perfectly honest, you are a Republican that came over to vote for Obama. You voted for Bush last time, and I am really angry about that. Dont come over here and say what we can vote for. In our eyes, Obama is taking Republican policies, and we DO NOT LIKE IT AND WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM.
Re: I Get You

SO

Thats your opinion of Obama. Most Americans believe differently. We always knew a few people wouldnt vote for obama no matter what he did. No one is going to kiss up to you guys to get your vote. This is America. You are free to vote how you wish.

But if you spew out foul evil comments, why cry when you get responses from the people you are trying to offend??

you have never posted anything but poison to the party, I know you are still crying you lost, Hillary is fine with it, the rest of us are fine with it, just you are just so full of yourself you can not get over it. Oh and for the record, no one fears PUMA, that would be like fearing the Easter Bunny. But keep your yapping up, its always the small dogs that make the most noise

Well, this is a no walk over to Obama. This is what it is. This is the first time in my life, I JUST CANT walk over. Too much bull shit with DNC, Obama and all the rest of the flip flopping Obama has done.

Re: I don't much care.

That's not entirely true, he has earned by disgust. You see my son was going to Columbia in Chicago, health care it is a joke there. The govenor helped me get him on a plane to come home to get treated. Obama is a liar, and I am not trying to disrespect you.
Oh, come on, be honest
By Hollywood Jul 6th 2008 at 10:24 pm EDT
You despise him and always have. You have never said a single good thing about the man and have devoted every post to disseminating scurrilous accusations straight from GOP sites about him.

You are hooked on Hillary and everybody else is the devil. Because, as you say, the Clintons educated you and gave you a job.

That's how I feel. I've always voted for the dem nominee. This time I can't. I can't vote for McCain, either. What a situation. Never thought I'd be here.
Re: pcmoore,
By illinoismel Jul 6th 2008 at 9:59 pm EDT
Michelle, that is what I am trying to say. There are many of us out here that feel that way. I have stated I will not support McCain and if Senator Clinton is on the ticket, I will vote for the team. But other than that, I will not vote for this man. I know with Senator Clinton a part of the team, the issues she cares about and I care about will be part of the program. It is those subtle little differences, like health care. Senator Clinton also did not lie to the voters, she said she would meet with the people and within 60 days start removing troops, maybe one or two brigades at a time, not promise everyone out in 16 months.
Mel,
By Michelle K. Jul 6th 2008 at 10:10 pm EDT
I honestly feel like if he makes Hillary VP, then he'll lean on her and take all the glory. It doesn't sit well with me. She was the best candidate this country has seen in a very long time. If she really wanted the VP position and he gave it to her, I'd back her on it. But I still would feel disappointed in how our party handled everything. She knows how to lead this country in the right direction. My full confidence is with her.

I understand too.
By Vidya Jul 6th 2008 at 9:48 pm EDT
I remember when first coming on this site, nearly every Obama supporter I came across accused me of either being a racist or a republican.

As if Obama were the only real democratic candidate. It was enough to make me hurl, though I kept my cool, and tried to reason with what appeared to be some very unreasonabee people.

I respect your choice Mel, and would never think to accuse you of being anything other than a democrat, and am very sorry those that due are still lacking the scope and depth to understand where you are coming from.

I do understand.

For me things are different, I am more opposed to McCain than I am Obama. As I said before, I would elect my dog Rowdie before I would vote for a republican. Not every democrat feels that way, but that does not make them any less democratic.

I am sorry Mel, you deserve better, so did I for that matter.

Nonsense!
By Hollywood Jul 6th 2008 at 10:30 pm EDT
Barbara is supporting Obama! She posts with the sole purpose of supporting Obama.

It's amazing that whenever an Obama supporter posts, Hillary supporters say, "They're trying to take over the board/drive us off the site", but Hillary supporters post all the livelong day and if ever accused of blog-hogging, cry "We have every right to be on here and say whatever we want!"

In other words, these people want the site all to themselves with NO Obama supporters on it - which is a total nonsense when you think about it, since he is the presumptive nominee of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!
Re: Nonsense!
By illinoismel Jul 6th 2008 at 11:24 pm EDT
It is the manner of her posts in case you haven't noticed. She is driving more away that may be swing voters, but that's ok, you guys go ahead and condone this. I am secure in my decision and that is all that matters to me.

Mel, firstly, I do not fear PUMA
By Hollywood Jul 6th 2008 at 10:16 pm EDT
any more than I feared S.T.A.G.

And if you don't want to support Obama - your business. But if you're not supporting him but at the same time not supporting McCain, why do you openly curse Obama? Why not say nothing and talk about issues?

I mean, what is the goal, here? Do you seriously think they're going to give the nomination to Hillary now? Do you think if you trash Obama enough, he will go quietly into the night? Do you think if you trash Obama enough, you PUMA folks alone will sufficiently influence public opinion (of the entire population) as to cause him to lose, and then you'll have McCain (and what do you want HIM for?? He's an asshole!).

Seriously, I'd like an answer to this simple question, but thus far nobody has been willing to give one. Or maybe they don't know themselves?

Barbara, as a protestor from way back
By Hollywood Jul 6th 2008 at 10:38 pm EDT
There is always a specific purpose to pulling together and joining a serious interest group - there is a goal there somewhere.

I'm not sure if the people who are joining this particular group know what the actual goal of the group is. It's possible that the organizers tell new joiners one thing, keeping the actual goal secret to but a select few at the top.

I have known of special interest/protest groups which use subterfuge to get money and members - they dupe people into joining their cause, not knowing what the actual cause is.

But what is the primary goal
By Hollywood Jul 6th 2008 at 11:06 pm EDT
and do you always believe what people tell you?

Nobody seems to be able to tell me what the defined goal of PUMA is, other than to serve as a sounding board for disgruntled Hillary fans. And that's not a defined goal.
Re: But what is the primary goal
By Sandi Jul 6th 2008 at 11:48 pm EDT
Goals:

1. Support all Dem lower party Tickets
2. Dems that do not support Obama will:
a. not vote, write in Hillary if state allows
b. vote 3rd Party
c. support McCain
3. Change DNC Rules, disapportioned delegate system and elite system. State caucases
4. Pay off Hillary Clinton's debt
5. Further issues and concerns will be dictated by problems in this Country.
6. Organize, produce 527 ads, million women march
7. Support more women in government

Here is the deal
By Sue Sue's Straight Talk Express Jul 7th 2008 at 1:20 am EDT
I dislike Clinton a great deal. But should she have secured the nomination, I would have embraced her 100% and done what I needed to do to raise money for her just as I am for Obama because the alternative is so damn wrong that I cannot find the words to eloquently express myself regarding this issue. John McCain is simply not an option. The neocons have already taken him over.

As for me, I do tend to call people trolls who are on this site and refust to support Obama because John McCain winning simply CANNOT HAPPEN!

IMO
