not sure I understand

I'm not sure I understand this cartoon. To me it looks like it supports those who believe that that major contributors to global warming are not people. It seems to be supporting the notion that what is happening is a natural progression of evolution. Just as polar bears can't be blamed for the destruction of seals, people can't be held responsible for driving carbon emitting vehicles and all the other things that we do to increase carbon emissions. I guess you can make a case if you believe that people are no more intelligent than a polar bear. George Bush would be a good example to support that theory.

But then how do we account for the deaths of seals all over our planet?

For example hundreds of seals die each year in the Caspian sea. Polar bears are not killing them off. Pollutants accumulate in seals, weakening their immune systems and cause infertility. Such pollutants originate in heavy industry and enter the Caspian Sea via rivers.

Most likely it is oil spills in the areas where the polar bears live are contributing to the decline in the population of seals more than polar bears are. Just because we hear about the big spills, doesn't mean that many other incidents are reported.

I heard about this on the news last night. The fact that the Polar bears are becoming extinct because they ice is melting and they need the ice to catch seals to survive. WOW

If the ice melts we will have lose more then the Polar Bears. Water level will rise world wide taking most of the cost lines we know today. Could be the lose of Farm Land and City's. It would be a world changing event.
