I cannot understand those of you who say that you will vote for McCain if your candidate does not win. John McCain has espoused a 3rd Bush term. Meanwhile, Obama and Hillary differ on very little. Their goals are the same: get out of Iraq, cut down corporate corruption, acheive universal health care, implement an immigration plan that makes sense, and improve our standing in the world. They differ only in their means of getting there. To say that if your candidate doesn't win, you will vote for McCain is like taking your ball and going home because you didn't get the call. Of course Obama can't win if you don't vote for him. Saying you won't vote for him because he can't win is the definition of a self-fulfilling prophecy. I challenge all of you who say you will vote for McCain if your candidate does not win to tell me what makes you a Democrat. What makes you a Democrat if you vote to stay in Iraq? What makes you a Democrat if you vote to make permanent tax cuts for the wealthy? What makes you a Democrat if you support the abrogation of civil liberties in the name of safety? What makes you a democrat if you vote to allow a pro-choice, pro death penalty candidate replace Justice Stevens and Ginsberg? I'll tell you what:
NOTHING.
A vote for John McCain is a vote against core Democratic principles. Don't vote out of spite, vote with your brain.

What makes me a Democrat?
By Woman at Large May 7th 2008 at 11:39 am EDT
I've been a Democrat because it's been a party of the majority -- the workers of America, the non-wealthy, those who epitomize the poem at the base of the Statue of Liberty. But now you put up a candidate who turns his back on our flag, who apologizes for a hate-America pastor, who just about writes it down for you that he is commtted to righting the wrongs that my ancestors supposedly inflicted on his. (They didn't). Against that anti-Americanism, which Obama seems to be successfully shoving down the throats of the party, I'll pledge to step up my efforts for my country. I'll take a renewed effort to speak against the war in Iraq; I'll work to overturn tax cuts for the wealthy; I'll accept the loss of some individual liberties if it makes the whole country safer; and I'm already pro-choice, pro-death penalty.
A vote for John McCain is a vote against core Democratic principles -- and please, please tell me Obama is not an example of those principles! Hillary Rodham Clinton is the only candidate we can support with dignity. At least, the only Democrat...

Nevermind joining the Republican party, you are a Republican. Obama has never "turned his back on the flag." He is endured more criticism over the past year than you will in your entire life, and why does he keep at it...because he loves this country. The last sentence in his book, written before his run, sums up his love for his country. His speech last niht brilliantly articulated his love for this country. Is Bush a patriot because he puts his hand over his heart an wears a lapel pin, but then lies us into war, breaks our ties with our allies, pisses all over our Constitution? Patriotism is much more than bearing a flag, it is furthering the principles upon which this country was founded. If you continue to believe that what makes a patriot are those commercialized norms, I feel sorry for you.

Sorry

A vote for Obama is against my Christian, American and human principles. Those come before politics.

I will make one last stand before my country is sold down the river to the likes of Jeremiah Wright, Obama, Howard Dean, and the crooked media. McCain would not have been my first choice...he has some flaws. But Obama and his wife, and all the blacks screaming about how the white people owe them, are absolutely scary.

You didn't even listen to his speech in Philadelphia. Before you blog here, why don't you try educating yourself, then make an informed post. That is a very racist blog.
