Sometimes I feel like it is such a waste of time being a Democrat in Texas. Is there any hope out there of the electoral votes going liberal in this state?

Hey, Texas is ok. My friend down there just sent me a fruitcake. So, there are friendly people there. After all, you had one of the best people around for a Governor until this little man bought his way into that office and then the White House. I miss Governor Richards, she was a wonderful lady and what a piece of work she was! Said things like it was whether you liked it or not. You also brought us LBJ and LadyBird. You have some history and one thing about it, history repeats itself.

I am a proud supporter of the Honorable Senator, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

It does repeat itself Mel, you are correct, it could be time for them to shift.

Thanks for all the support and kind reminders of our states history. It is still so damned frustrating to get into a debate with a republican voter only to have them finish with " Oh....I dont really get into politics..." I'm kinda thinking it would be better for ALL of us if they didnt really get into voting either.

Ann Richards was my Moms hero, and I kinda agree with her.

I'm still pissed at Larry King because as many times as he had her on and I never did see a special of his for her when she passed. I might have missed it, but looked and watched. Your mom had great taste. She still does not have a grave marker, it is special ordered and not placed yet. Must be something really, really special. Could you imagine her being here today with Sen. Clinton running? Oh, what she would have to say!

We live in too much of a Republican world anymore. She was a great addition to the state of Texas as well as Governors across this great land.

She was great I dont think anybody anywhere didnt like her. It was the SOB Bush that put his attack dogs on her and changed her image to the voters and killed her, he should be punished for that as much as anything.

LBJ supported NASA - of course Lady Bird's family and she owned the land that was sold for it, but still, he did finish pushing it through.

I am against attacking LBJ he was a great American and a great Democrat and you have no evidence to support that. Of course he mishandled Vietnam but he it didnt start it he just tryed to finish it.

I understand its your opinion, I dont think you should state that he was behind JFK's death without real evidence of it, you know. LBJ did a lot of good for this country and if he felt guilty about anything, he died 3 years after leaving office.

Ron Paul's from Texas

and he's more liberal than Hillary or Lyndon Johnson could ever hope to be. And Molly Ivins was the balls. Stevie Ray Vaughn was the man too so there's obviously some soul in Texas.

Bad Rap
By Emery Dec 16th 2007 at 11:16 pm EST
The State of Texas and her citizens continue to get a bad rap around the world because they think Bushie Boy is a Texan. This infuriates me to no end.
We Texans know better. Shrubby was born in Stafford,Conn. Even by Any stretch of the imagination, That could be considered North East Texas.

Digestible Democratic Dialog
By Tonya Dec 17th 2007 at 12:24 am EST
If there is any hope of Democratic Party gains in Texas it will have to be through a moderate approach. You don't start force feeding a newborn solid food.

Ann Richards Convention comment referring to George H. W. Bush, "Poor George, he can't help it...He was born with a silver foot in his mouth", demonstrated her Texas toughness. Although her opponent continually shot himself in the foot, she barely squeaked a win in her run for Governor. If Democratic leadership does not learn to simply "Market the Message" and stop allowing the opposition to define them, gains in the south and the middle of the country will not be made. The majority of the conservative south see the world in black & white. Democrats most learn to unconvolutedly communicate the gray.
