Health Care #2 Issue across all Parties
According to a Kaiser poll, Health Care (29%) ranks second only to Iraq (44%) as a focus issue for the 2008 elections. Democrats, Independents, and Republicans were polled.
Reducing costs and expanding coverage for the uninsured are the two top health care concerns: again, across the board.
The numbers don't separate until you start talking about increasing spending in order to cover the uninsured. As you'd expect, the Democrats are about 2:1 in favor, versus Republicans. Republicans tend to favor less spending, and leaving people uninsured in order to save money. No big surprises there.
What I found most disturbing about the poll is the abysmal ignorance of the American People. Most don't really have a clue about who supports or does not support Universal Health Care. I guess they are waiting...
... for Fox News to tell them. ^o^
According to Kaiser's Poll:
Despite the fact that Kucinich is the only candidate offering true, Universal, Single Payer coverage, he just hasn't made it onto the radar of the general public, yet.
I have to wonder, as the word gets out, how that will affect him in the polls to come.
What's very clear is that NO candidate, for any Party, will be allowed to sidestep Health Care. That's a very positive thing to see!
Kaiser will continue to monitor these numbers, so for those of you who'd like to check now and then:

According to Kaiser's Poll:
No candidate yet stands out on health (though Clinton gets most recognition)
At this early stage in the campaign, most people dont know or cant name a candidate who best represents their
own views on health care (60 percent), or say that no candidate represents their views (8 percent). To the extent
any candidate breaks out of the single digits, it is Hillary Clinton, who is named by 14 percent of Americans
(and 27 percent of Democrats) as the person who best reflects their health care views. Senator Clinton has a
significant edge among Democrats on this question, leading her nearest rival Senator Obama 27 percent to 8
percent, with Senator Edwards picking up 4 percent. Among Republicans and independents, no one candidate
stands out as appealing on health care...
