How the Republicans lost the election during their convention

A funny thing happened tonight. America saw a spectacle. A big show designed to show how the Republican party was going to win the election. But somewhere they missed the mark.
Perhaps it was when they started talking at 6pm and finished after 11pm and had attacked the Democrats all night but offered America only chants of USA on ways to fix their problems. Perhaps it was the fact that they decided to promote a 17 year old high school kid to a hero for having unprotected sex with a young girl. Actually brought him on stage and he shook hands with John McCain. Or perhaps it was after Sarah Palin's speech when they realized she can talk bad about Obama but there is nothing good to say about herself or the Republican party.

In the coming weeks people will call this a turning point. America finally got to see Palin and McCain together and their first order of business was to promote attacks rather than offer solutions.

They ignored the fact that the Republican Party has been running things for 8 years and blamed it all on the Democrats.

Palin is a good politician, as is McCain, as was George Bush. America is tired of Republicans who are good politicians but bad leaders.

Let them rejoice tonight - because when they wake up in the morning - they will find America wasn't fooled.

to say the least. It will be interesting to see the new numbers when they come out.

The new numbers will give the Republicans a bounce - then as more negative aspects of her and McCain come out they will slip.

In fighting within the party will cause major mistakes and they will fall apart because they have no platform.

Would be nice but don't count on it! Here's my recommendation - get out there and do some campaigning. This election won't be decided by speeches, it's all about the ground game.

And to think grandmothers used to have manners, Carolyn. The more insulting you are, the more you shame Hillary. Think about it.

I was more concerned with the little baby, Trig, with Down Syndrome being at the convention, with all that noise, the clapping, cheering, bright lights and germs! Not only that, but how many different people kept passing him around? The older sister, Cindy McCain, Dad, and the younger sister who slicked his hair down with spit. Did anyone wash their hands before touching him? What about Dad clapping by slapping his little thigh? I was horrified by the spectacle. Did anyone think that he should have been in his own crib, asleep? I wonder if he is being exploited because of his special needs?

Between the disgusting 9/11 "tribute" video, the reworking of Obama's record, the call to fight, the fear monggering... I am more then ever grateful to NOT be a repub.

Don't get too over confident...

I'm not convinced that this is in the bag. I don't think all voters are that informed, let alone use critical thinking.

Not in the bag at all. Start working it! We need a strong ground game. Remember it's very important to turn out all of the new voters.
