In November of 2008 the Democrats will wake up to a fillibuster proof Senate - an overwhelming majority in the House of Representative - and a Democrat in the White House for the first time in 8 years.

We'd better be ready.

First - heal the wounds of the Presidential Primary. Forget Bipartisan politics - how about inter party healing. Find your issues - leave the candidates - and lets push for what we think we need on the platform. Either will win.

Second - Recognize your government - The House and Senate are just as important and in some cases more so. Get on board now with your legislatures and start pushing the Agenda.

Third - Be prepared to work hard and not celebrate. Does no good to get all Dems in office and accomplish nothing - they will be coming right out the next election.

Our Victory is at hand - we had better be ready.

Exactly - I'm beginning to see a unified end game.

The Washington Post has identified 10 Senate Seats the Dems might take from Republicans - and that doesn't includy Cornyn in Texas - so that makes 11.

The group Save The Senate is Monitoring these races all the time and reporting back to party builder.

We have a better than decent shot to get rid of Elizabeth Dole...am working to help get Kay Hagan elected for NC Senate! (and also contributing to Rick Noriega and a few others)

We must remember that we the people still have enormous competiton to overcome, even with a democratic majority.

We still have that other branch of government to deal with--35,000 lobbyists in Washington DC.

Ethics reform Liz - we need it.

The new person I am in love with this week is our candidate for Congress in Illinois.

DES PLAINES -- Today, Col. Jill Morgenthaler's campaign for Congress announced contributions totaling $200,630 in the first quarter of 2008, the first full quarter of fundraising for the political newcomer. Morgenthaler is the Democratic candidate for the 6th Congressional District of Illinois.

Morgenthaler, a Des Plaines resident who is making her first run for political office, raised more funds from small donations than did incumbent Congressman Peter Roskam, a career politician and personal injury trial lawyer who has been raising political money for 16 years. Morgenthaler's campaign earned the support of 567 contributors, with an average contribution of $327.

"Everyone knows that a career politician like Congressman Roskam can raise money from their big corporate special interest backers when they feel threatened," said Campaing Manager Bill Romjue. "What is gratifying is the number of everyday people who have rallied to Jill's side so early, showing that people of the 6th district want change. The message is clear: we are not going to let Congressman Roskam and his corporate special interest backers buy this election."

Romjue continued, "Congressman Roskam helped himself to another $84,000 from big corporate special interest PACs - big banks, huge insurance companies and others who can count on his votes in Congress. Well, we didn't take a penny from them. Instead, we are relying on the support of hundreds of folks who want a representative who will bring change to Washington, set aside the political games, and get to work on commonsense solutions for the people of Illinois."

Overall, newcomer Morgenthaler's first quarter fundraising total is competitive with that of incumbent Congressman Roskam. Congressman Roskam, a career politician who has held elected office since 1992, reported $291,460.87 for the quarter.

In a contested primary on February 5th, voters decisively chose Col. Morgenthaler to be the Democratic candidate - half-way through the first quarter - a point when Republican Congressman Roskam, who had no opponent, was already well into his cycle of fundraising.

Details of Col. Morgenthaler First-Quarter Fundraising:

Total Receipts: $200,630

Total Individual Donors: 567

Total Contributions $200 or Less: 359

Percentage of Individual Contributions $200 or less: 63 percent
