That's the quarterly profit for Exxon Mobil.

I read Mikey's post, he's right.

I read Beachman's (MOB), post, he's right too.

We do not need more off shore drilling.

That's how Exxon slips under the radar with their outlandish profit margin, they say it goes right back into finding energy sources, can guess you where?

Who profits from that kind of research?

Exxon.

Vidya,

I agree with you. I was listening to Pelosi last week and did some subsequent research and the oil companies already have millions upon millions in acerage that they could use for drilling. They simply have not. Why?

Because it depreciates the value of reserves and current inventories, both contributes to the value of the stock price and its profit margin (the "economic rent" we are all paying to use their capital to live).

You know, it is interesting......

they claim it will take 10 years to drill in ANWR for the oil. They estimate that what they get out of there will last 12 years (and most of that will be exported to Asia and India).

I plan on being around in 22 years! So what do we do-----postpone the panic for no more oil to be found in the world until it is actually on us?

You can't tell me they can put a man on the moon, run land rovers all over Mars, invent the electronics they keep inventing, yet cannot figure out how to make an automobile engine that runs on something other than gasoline! That is just plain bulls**t!

Yes, multiply that by thousands, and add thousands of species to the oceans grave yard, it is unconscionable.

This so outrageous, cannot believe more people do not speak out against off shore drilling.

Mel had post sighting that 73% of the U.S. Population is advocating off shore drilling! How the hell can that be?

gullible people led to believe that if there is more oil, the price at the pump will come down!

Wonder if they read Exxon made the largest profit in history of the world this last quarter, and we are paying over $4.00 per gallon for gas? Here in CT, it is still well over $4.

Where are these easily swayed people when I am trying to sell that land down in the FL swamps?
