With the budget cuts that the current adminstration put in place, our Family suffered greatly.
I am a stay at home mother of three children. While my husband works full time, we are still barely making ends meet. Some things needs to change! The budget cuts cost my family daycare assistance for my youngest son, cost my husband and I affordable health insurance, and most imporantly it makes me feel like we were punished for being part of the "lower middle class".
We no longer qualify for head start because of the income limits and we can not afford daycare because we have a mortgage and utility bills to pay. Without assistance for daycare, we are stuck living off of one income. I cannot rationally see myself working full time just to pay for daycare cost. In my opinion, I would be working just to pay someone else to raise my son and I pride myself on being my child's first teacher. If we had assistance, we could afford daycare and thus lead to more money being brought into the home.
Health insurance cuts caused me to cancel my appointments with a specialist I was seeing at a local Cancer hospital. Breast cancer and other forms of cancer run in my family and 4 years ago my doctor told me to see a specialist for some health issues. At that time the specialist told me to come in once a year, at least, to be screened. When the budget cuts took place I had no other choice but to call the specialist and explain that I would not be keeping those appointments because I could not afford private health insurance and we no longer qualified for MO insurance. I have looked into the free screening that are offered, but since I am currently only 27 years old I do not qualify; age requirements from what I understand is 40.
Yes, my husband work offers health insurance for workers and their spouses. We would love to have coverage, but if we pay for private insurance we would have to make cuts in our personal budget. We have cut enough! We dont have cell phones, we dont have cable, we eat out once a month and even then we only order pizza. We have internet and long distance but that is it.
Sorry for the long post, but the point is that something needs to be done. Our current adminstration focuses on world issues. In my opinion, we need to refocus our priorities and help those who are struggling to make it and feel like they are being punished for even trying.

Daycare for the twins would run from 1000 to 2000 per month - so my wife is also a stay at home mom.
I work two jobs - and found that the healthcare at my part time job was cheaper for the family (If you can consider 500 per month cheap). That means my part time job check is little or nothing.
There are a lot of us in your boat.
