Thanks for the Happy Memory

LOL five stars

Yet, in retrospect, Richard Nixon looks like the Virgin of Guadalupe compared to George Bush.

I just looked it up. Ford took over August 9, 1974

Nixon didn't lie to get us into a war...
By John Patterson Jun 21st 2008 at 9:31 am EDT
But he lied to KEEP us there, and hired some 3rd rate crooks to bug the Watergate to assure he had dirt on the Dems so he could perpetuate the Viet Nam disaster (it ceased to be a "war" and became a disaster long before we started bombing Hanoi).

Bush is SURROUNDED by 3rd rate crooks, and he lied to us to get us into an awful disaster that he still calls a "war".

Whether through impeachment while he is President or through impeachment AFTER he is no longer in office (Yes, Virginia, you CAN impeach a former President and his VP, who will be sunning himself on the Dubai beach) his legacy will carry an asterisk that reflects his not only 25% approval rating, but will also serve as an eternal reminder of the thousands of Americans he sent to their deaths and dismemberment, and the millions of innocent civilians he destroyed or displaced.

I suspect the fix is in, on both FISA and Bush's impeachment, we will see our Democratic leaders fold to the neocons. Whatever threat they were given, whatever impending event they were warned of, they apparently seem determined to ignore the will of the people who elected them.

We've been "Hoyered" once again, and I fear Pelosi is now a full-fledged member of that hoyering team. I have always defended her, but she seems determined to undermine the public will>

Maybe she has good justification for it, but I have mt doubts, it seems more as if these old time Dems are so used to being misled and bullied by the Republicans and their neocon managers that they bend instead of standing firm whenever thew winds of political mischief blow their way.

but it wasn't the end

It was a mere pause.
I thought when Nixon was drummed out of office it would be a long time before another republican crook would get elected. In the 34 intervening years we have had 22 years of republican crooks who have made Nixon/Agnew pale in comparison.
I blame it on Ford, well intentioned that he might have been. When our highest officials betray the public trust they should be hung out to dry. They should be held to a higher standard and their misdeeds should follow them to the grave. The country should not have been allowed to heal (forget) after Nixon. We should have endured a festering sore for as long as it would take to leave an ever reminding scar.
