U.S. "Budget"?

A Cherokee grandfather spoke of two wolves fighting in his yard.
One of the wolves represented fear, arrogance and lies, the other, joy, faith, and generosity.
His grandchild asked,"Which will win?"
He answered,"The one I feed."
Thanks to FNCL for that thought and these numbers.

U.S. Budget proposed by the Bush Administration.

Current Wars........................................30.9%
Past Wars..............................................13.5%
51% increase in nuclear weapons systems
Total Military spending......................... 44.4%
Does not include the $120-150 billion supplemental bill this Spring.

Healthcare............................................19.7%
Interest on non-military debt................10.9%
Response to poverty..............................11.8%
Government opperations.......................7.0%
Science, energy and the environment.....2.5%
(27% cut to renewable energy development)
(30% cut to EPA)
(40% cut to AMTRACK)
Education and Jobs.................................2.2%
Diplomacy and human needs abroad......1.5%
(State Department cuts reduce our ability to prevent war.)

I will be voting for peace, please join me.
We can't afford not to.
Feel free to send this to anyone you know.
peace,
marsha

What I find inexcuseable is that the benefits for war veterans have been shrinking as the spending goes up. There is an accounting problem in the pentagon, they don't even know where all the money is going.
Your tax dollars at work?

For your information it is aleways the retired military community that takes the biggest hits. Medical has hit an all time low and is damn near impossible to get. It used to be free but not any longer.

GI's have been the quietest and always remain upbeat but it is getting harder and harder to survive nowadays.

The VA system was never designed to support the active military and slight budget increases aren't covering the costs for active duty, wounded personnel.

What has happened to our veterans benefits would never be condoned by the public if they had any inkling of what is going on but they just don't know. Many people I have met think that because I'm retired from the military I should take a job at less pay. Never happen and I always refused to work for an employer who pulled that crap!

Our guys deserve better than this and they just toss the maimed ones to the side and say, sorry!!
This is one subject that puts me on a rant so I'll just let it go 4 now unless some weenie pops up!

I am so completely ashamed of the way veterans are being treated. This has got to stop.

Our military personnel are the true patriots! If anyone should, they should all be treated as royalty. Just anything they want they should get.

I have been an active supporter of veterans benefits. Dump the neo-cons that think the military is just a tool for applying their self-interest, including McCain, and this will turn around, but certainly not soon enough.

My very greatest apologies to our very finest!!

Very best wishes.

thank you marsha

The Peace Dividend
By Wade Hudson Mar 21st 2008 at 7:43 pm EDT
Whatever happened to the Peace Dividend we were supposed to get after the Cold War ended? I remember wondering, What enemy will they create next? Well, we got Noriega. We got the War on Drugs. And now we have the War on Terrorism -- the perfect war, because it will be never-ending -- so long as we fight it with counter-productive methods.

But we must keep trying to stop it.

Boy this has to end and as soon as possible.
The Reps are nuts and don't care for anyone but the rich and it is all to obvious.
