I laughed.

Americans, however, have a love/hate relationship with this one of the top 100 largest economies in the world. (Did you know that today 51 of the top 100 largest economies in the world are not countries but rather corporations?)

Back to Wal-Mart. We all know that they do not treat their employees right. We all know that they discriminate against women in terms of wages even worse than most corporations. We know that they bully their suppliers and play all kinds of dirty tricks on them.

We all know that Wal-Mart is not nice.

BUT those of us in the lower middle and poor class also know that we can save up to 20% on our groceries at Wal-Mart.

It is a real rock and a hard place for many of us (that moral dilemma that biff loves to talk about)

We have to reconcile our citizen with our consumer selves--and in some cases, our economic survival.

I would like for americans to have better choices.

Perhaps it all comes down to marketing. If we can be shown how it is better to do without and shop elsewhere and buy less than to shop at Wal Mart--and if this message were encapsulated in a format that would grab low information people--then it might work.

It is difficult, however, to sell long-term benefits when the obvious nature of short-term benefits is so apparent--takes a very clever marketeer to accomplish that.
