Governor Howard Dean was elected Chairman of the Democratic National Committee in February of 2005. In that role he has strengthened the Democratic Party to one that can compete in all 50 states and get Democrats elected up and down the ballot, which played a key role in the Democratic Party's victories in November of 2006. Prior to that, Dean used the national prominence he gained as a presidential candidate to create Democracy for America. Dean served as the Governor of Vermont from 1991 until 2003.
Governor Dean holds a degree in Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
