Bush: expert on everything, not very good at anything

"As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939," Bush told Israeli lawmakers (in a speech Thursday to the Israeli Knesset), "an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

Since we have no way of knowing what U.S. Sen. William Borah, the author of the quote, would have said to Hitler we cannot make a blanket statement as to its positive failure. That aside, all Democrats have to do (if they had any quick wittedness) would be to agree, but remind Bush that Mr. Borah was a Republican. A Democrat then, and now, might have better luck.

Hilarious and thank you for sharing. It is hilarious that the person attributed with making the remark was a Republican.

Just perfect. Isn't it amazing that no matter what the Republican do, it seems they can't win.

As for Bush, they would increase their chances if they locked him in a closet for the duration of the campaign.

Bush is not an expert on anything

What makes Bush's claim especially ironic is that it was the most liberal president we have ever had Franklin D. Roosevelt who was in the forefront in opposing the Nazis and Adolph Hitler. It was the conservatives and republicans who not only didn't want to oppose Hitler but many of them actually admired Hitler for his reactionary and racial views. His hatred of Jews and communism was specially appealing to many of them. While conservatives today may not harbor the extreme racial views of the Nazis but they do have many common traits.

I suspect a great many republic party people think the same today. Fortunately, history (the Nuremberg trials) taught them not to act on those beliefs.

When I heard this, I could not believe he said this. It is absolutely appaulling. He is a complete utter embarrassment so perhaps now this will make people realize that we cannot allow another Republican another 4 years.
