Clinton's campaign debt
Bad? Brilliant?

For those who are mystified as to why Clinton soldiers on in the Presidential campaign, you need look no further than

1) the $11M that she has "loaned" her campaign, and
2) her sordid history of campaign financing dealings that probably should be against the law.

I connect the dots, citing ancient history, in this diary post on dailykos.

How did the candidate who started the race by rolling over $10M left over from her Senate campaign, wind up $20M in debt?

My wife and I are former Edwards supporters.

We believe, unlike many in this country, that candidates should be judged on their merits.

I sure am glad there are people like you out there, fighting the good fight on the racial equality front. Where would the country be without y'all?

Look, there's no reason to be mean

Don't blame Hillary. Blame the person responsible. Terry McAuliffe. He was in charge of fundraising. You would think of all people he would know that you raise more money through grassroots internet contributions than by depending on maximum donations by millionaires. He ran the party when Howard Dean ran for President.

McAuliffe also presided over two Democrat GE failures. I have obviously never been fond of the guy.

Hillary did the best she could under the circumstances. Her biggest fault: loyalty to Penn, Wolfson, Ickes and McAuliffe. That's my opinion.

I don't think you should blame the fundraisers - they did a great job! She misspent the money.

When you spend more money than you take in, eventually you go broke.
Forgive me for pointing out

I'm an old party hack. Heck, you might be, too, but I find I am generally much older than many others on these blogs.

In my (long) experience, I have seen it all. You move with the times. I may not have a Facebook page myself, but that is the future. So is internet contributions. I can't afford to spend $10,000 to go to a fundraiser and I doubt you can, either. The campaign machine was firmly stuck in the past, and they paid for it dearly.

I believe that, had the fundraising and advertising been done differently, and if Hillary's image had been portrayed differently, she would have walked this. Now the only place she can walk is out the exit door.
