I can't help noticing that 40 votes would have been enough for a filibuster.

Looks like all the presidential candidates are spineless... did not vote. Or were they off wandering again? I sure want a spineless prez. So disappointing. I WANT A LEADER!!!!

And here I thought just today that one of your ultra liberal democrat compadres here in the blog said doing stuff like or similar to fillibustering was the "congress wasting time."

Ya'll gonna conference with each other on what's a waste of time by congress and what's not?

Just curious enough to ask if you guys can come to an agreement on something.

We're not very coordinated are we?

Do our leaders ever get together and talk to each other? Are there meetings to discuss strategy?

It is obvious that we have many viewpoints thrown together in our party, but are those who represent us in Congress on speaking terms with eachother? You'd think after the last six years especially, we'd recognize a common enemy compelling enough to engender cooperation. I wish it were easier to detect.

The spineless five
By Liz Nov 9th 2007 at 3:39 pm EST
Well I guess that narrows our choices down to: Kucinich, Edwards, Richardson, and Gravel (all of whom are preferable to any of the spinless 5. We know for certain that Dennis has a backbone. He submitted H.Res333 to impeach Cheney. We know that Gravel has a backbone. He submitted the Pentagon papers that convicted Richard Nixon to the press.

All five senators who are running for president -- Joseph R. Biden Jr., Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Christopher J. Dodd, all Democrats, and John McCain -- did not cast votes.

Still, I'm not convinced, even though I do believe that water boarding is torture and I would like a personal demonstration that it is not from George Bush and Dick Cheney, I'm still thinking that Mukasey is better than leaving Keisler in there for 14 months.

What would Gravel do?

Ya gotta wonder, what would Gravel have done in these senators' position?
