Combining them both into a reorganized U.S. Department of Energy & Climate Protection may be a key step the Obama administration should seriously consider pursuing. The two areas are interrelated and by combining the two in a single department, the tendency for industry lobbyists to dominate one priority over the other will be off set. Further, the time to elevate climate and environmental protection has now come. It is interesting to note that other countries in Europe and elsewhere have started to move forward with similar proposals.
