Lately McCain has been yelling that Obama was wrong about opposing the surge. I don't agree with this premise, but for the sake of argument, let's say it's true. Well lets ask these questions.

Was McCain right about Iraq stockpiling WMDs?

Was McCain right about Iraq involvement in 9-11?

Was McCain right about our being welcomed as liberators?

Was McCain right about "Mission Accomplished"?

Was McCain right about the Iraq War impacting the fight in Afghanistan?

Was McCain right about the Iraq War becoming a quagmire?

Was McCain right about the Iraq War becoming a half-trillion dollar debt for our children to pay?

How many more matters regarding the Iraq War has McCain been wrong?

McCain is wrong on everything

There is a simple fact that is ignored - there is no such thing as "victory" in an occupation. There is no "victory" in a war based on lies. Obama has been right all along to oppose this war and to call for a withdrawal plan. McCain still has it wrong in that he thinks "the surge" is leading to a "victory". The only thing "the surge" did was to dig us in deeper. Ultimately, it's the Iraqi people that will bring stability to their own nation. They realize that to have reconciliation the best way is to have a withdrawal time table. Gee, we have been saying that since at 2004.

That's exactly along the lines of what's been bothering me lately...exactly. Good job. I rate you and Meltzer a 10...stud muffins.

"Did the Surge work" is a trick question, and Obama should call it out
By D. Tree Jul 23rd 2008 at 11:16 am EDT
that's my take anyway.

"Did the surge reduce violence?" is a trick question because we can't keep adding troops to bring the violence down. If the surge truly "worked," then we would be bringing our troops home right now!

The objective is not to keep ADDING troops to control the situation, but to start bringing them home.

That may be your objective, but it's not the objective of the United States. Sadly, the Iraqis weren't quite able to stand on their own and resist the terrorists in their country, so we logically decided to step up our presence and quash them back some more.

I want them home too, but not if we have to go back in again in 5 years with 4 times as many, or if those murderous bastards start wreaking havoc on our soil.

Wow, what the hell did you just say. You jumped from war to abortion and said they should just die? WHO the women having abortions, or our troops or what. Man, you need to fully develop your thoughts, because we can't fing mind read. Right now, what my mind jumped to, told me you think that terrorists are punishing women for abortions or politicians are? HOW DARE YOU! I can't believe women aren't in here...

Absolutely no one can say

we will win in Iraq. The radical muslim groups will always be there and will use any terrorist groups tactics. Retreat and hide until the advantage is yours. If we ever leave Sadr will return, with the aid of other radical groups, either within or outside Iraq. It will be up to the Iraqi's to fend for themselves if we leave, which I really don't care about because if they aren't willing to stand up, it is not our responsibility to continue our presence there.

We have poured billions (lots of 0's) and spent the lives of many GI's trying to help them for 7 years. We can never win that war, ever, but we can attempt to keep them out of our country. But that ain't gonna work either, we can't even keep the mexicans out! So much for reality!

I say get out and leave a strong message! That message would have to be delivered by our president, with a strong will and determined to defend the people of THIS country rather than pretend we are safe as is.

And I don't see that happening anytime soon either because neither of the candidates running for POTUS (the present one is just useless) are willing to put their political cajones on the table. They just look for votes and then do their own thing until the next election and the gullible ones will again put a person in the office that runs a good campaign by promising everyone, everything and the asses buy in to it!

I am glad to see you blogging. I must be honest. I do not want Iraq personnel going to Afghanistan. I want the Nation Guard, home.
