Is War With Iran Inevitable

If this administration has it’s way, I believe it is. In my opinion, I think that the president believes that if he attacks Iran it will change history’s view of his administration. He believes that this will put his administration in a
more positive historical position. He is already making the same comments about the possibility of war with Iran that he made about the possibilities of war with Iraq.
This would be a tragedy. Although, intelligence agency’s have announced that there has been Iranian involvement in the war in Iraq. The same intelligence agencies offered reports stating that Iraq had nuclear capabilities that it did not have. They stated that Iraq had large numbers of other w.m.d.’s that they did not have.
I believe that weapons and supplies have been flowing to Shia forces from Iran. I don’t believe that they have the evidence that they are coming from the Iranian central government. They could be supplied by a single general. Even if they are that doesn’t mean that we should go to war with Iran. I believe that we should remove soldiers from Baghdad where they are serving as targets. Baghdad should be handled by the Iraqi’s with aid from U.S. training support and U.S. Command and control support, but not with U.S. combat troops. Our combat troops should be deployed to combat Al-Qaeda forces elsewhere in the country and along the Syrian and Iranian borders to combat aid from outside governments.
In Vietnam and Korea the Soviet Union supported both communist governments. We did not go to war with the soviet Union. Instead, we acted through diplomatic channels through our embassies in the Soviet Union as well as through intermediaries. Eventually the Soviet Union fell and now Russia and the other countries of the Soviet Union are no great threat to us. If instead of acting diplomatically we had went to war with the Soviet’s, at a minimum hundreds of thousands of Americans would have died in that war.
Now, I don’t believe that Iran is the Soviet Union. The fact is we have no embassy in that country. You have to talk to everybody. In the history of this nation, dozen’s of wars have been prevented through sitting down and talking with our enemies. I
don’t believe the military option should be taken of the table, but that should be a last resort not a first resort. Any military option with Iran should be well down the road.
If we do go to war with Iran what do you think will happen? Will we win that war? Well we will certainly defeat the Iranian army, but then what? We will most likely have another Middle Eastern country in chaos. Do we need another situation like Iraq. This would probably spark more conflict in the region. So then what do we do? Go to war with yet another Middle Eastern Nation? How much further should we go and how many more Americans do we need to have killed and how many more Arab civilians should die. Would we make American’s safer? Right now Iraq is a recruiting poster for Al-Qaeda to recruit more young Muslims. Which is only going to make this world more dangerous forAmericans.
We should not go to war without exploring all other options. We are going to always have enemies in this world. We are always going to have other enemies supporting them behind the scenes. If we attacked everyone who wished us harm, we would be involved in World War III. You have to weigh the evil against us with the evil that would result from our actions.

Iran's post-war situation will not be the same as Iraq's. For one, there are exceedingly few Sunni in Iran. All the violence would be aimed at us. It's doubtful that Bush would have a plan that included occupation anyway.
Saddam said he has no WMD's. He was (essentially) telling the truth. We should have believed him. Iran says they want to get nukes and they want to use them on Israel. Should we disbelieve them? Iran is scary. We need the UN to put a stop to them. Bush should be working with the UN diplomatically to find a solution there.
