Earlier this year, I re-introduced the "Restoring the Constitution Act of 2007." The bill will restore Habeas Corpus protections to detainees, bar information acquired through torture from being introduced as evidence in trials, and limit presidential authority to interpret the meaning and application of the Geneva Conventions.

Why Dodd? No Brainer!
By Louis J. Koch Mar 29th 2007 at 1:19 pm EDT
I do not underestimate for one moment the importance of the war in Iraq, as well as the innumerable errors, lapses in judgment, almost laughable stupidity (and I truly dislike uttering such epithets as 'stupid' or 'stupidity'), that we have seen over the past six+ years under the Bush 43 Administration! Yes, there is the US Attorney debacle, the wondrous 2006 midterm election results, the public "getting it" that maybe, to paraphrase Sen. Dodd, 'on the job training isn't such a good idea post 9-11.'
I once read in an old "Almanac of American Politics" entry profiling Sen. Dodd (maybe back in the early-mid 1990's), saying, truly, that he is a profound intellect, and a "workhorse, NOT a show horse."
Pick your Democratic candidate (or GOP for that matter), in this upcoming '08 presidential primary. You hear about all the same issues. It is the same passion, dedication, brilliance, experience, and commitment, that both makes Sen. Dodd the ideal candidate for both the Democratic primary and general elections for the presidency; as well, the same "straight-talk" (NO PUN INTENDED!) that will surely endear CT's senior US Senator to the Democratic rank-and-file across America...pick your candidate...exploratory committee this, scripted that...Sen. Dodd is genuine, Sen. Dodd has a career to show for this genuine commitment to public service.
I STRONGLY and ARDENTLY call upon all concerned Democrats and Democratic activists vis a vis the horrendous abuses we have witnessed throughout the Bush Administration. Abu Gharib. Torture. Executive Branch overreach that has gone nearly UNCHECKED. Walter Reed! The list is almost sickening.
ONLY US SENATOR CHRISTOPHER DODD (D-CT), candidate for the 2008 Democratic nomination for the presidency of the US, has made it HIS business (and not just a campaign year ploy) and work in the Senate, as both candidate AND first and foremost legislator/public servant to use his power as only one of 100 United States Senators (and in the majority, I might add!) Please sign the petition, visit Sen. Dodd's Link website, and show your support for the only candidate devoted to restoring civil rights, justice, civil liberties, with experience, the record to back it up! These are critical issues truly going unnoticed by the other Democratic candidates! I strongly call this site to your attention.
