In Park County, Wyoming names like Bush and Cheney have the resonance of mantras or invocations for the elite they represent. To a "sleeping from exhaustion" working class, struggling to keep the heat going; insurance for one's family; gas to get back and forth to work (gas is cheaper in Longmont, Colorado--isn't that a joke); hoping your body will keep sustaining your work load as the days grow shorter-metamorphically and seasonally; if your children/your grandchildren will come home impoverished by standardization and social coercion; their names are reflective of the everyday insult of a right to work/right to starve state that genuflects to oil.
Growing up in Oklahoma I learned the stink, the smell, the power of oil early on. Growing up in a "dust bowl" can help you appreciate a little water, a little clean air, a little green thing growing, a good neighbor and a slow sunset, knowing the sunrise will be just as glorious. To me, that's what this party stands for--the right and the time to live life and to appreciate this beauty we are given as stewards and caretakers for "the seven generations to come." So it's a time for houseparties, block parties, garage sales, rallies, registering voters, talking, discussing, listening, learning, sharing, rediscovering the "unity in diversity" and 'exponential synergistic alliance' Buckminster Fuller poured into this old woman's heart-- whatever it takes to bring sanity and cohesion back into the dialogue.
So many before, so many to come, so now I have my, Impeach Cheney" cap and let's see how that one cap in Powell, Wyoming can become 5000 votes for democracy.
PS. This is my version of a Fireside Chat--and you are all my brothers, my sisters, my family and yes we can IMAGINE and yes, I do BELIEVE that WE SHALL OVERCOME-just not someday, no-NOW. HERE and NOW.
