After watching the theatrics of the Republican Convention and the Governor of the frozen state of Narnia (I mean Alaska) I am in Never Never land with Peter Pan. In the words of the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz " I do believe in ghosts, I do believe in ghosts, I do believe in ghosts, I do, I do, I do" Governor Palin who did not have a passport before 2007 must have taken her sleigh across the expanses of Canada to reach Minneapolis to deliver her speech full of blatant lies, exaggerations and inaccuracies. Her naive chip on her shoulder, not only accused the media of incompetence, but used trademark Karl Rove divisive tactics. The tactic of "if you tell a story or a lie long enough and hard enough that some will believe it no matter how obvious" was indeed alive and kicking. .

The George W Bush cowboy mentality of "my way or the highway" and "My god is stronger than your god" was alive and well in middle America tonight. Typical twangy Country and Western music stars littered the scene attracting rednecks throughout the USA to euphoria. Palin showed her lack of concern for the rest of the world as she arrogantly declared to Hell with the rest of the world we Americans should be the judge, jury and executioner.Palin insisted Americans make our own standards rather than obeying the worlds. Despite the failed economic plan during fellow republican George W Bush for the last eight years.... we should sink deeper into the hole with giving her and John McCain another four years. Citing the US oil reserves (2% of world total) she stated we had plenty of oil still to tap and did not need the rest of the world's.

A few of her trophies and parents watching her on TV
What we should be concerned about is that this small town America woman is a heartbeat away from the US presidency. McCain is seventy two years old with four cancer operations under his belt. The self described "pit bull in lipstick" as she calls herself, is in a word scary. Harry Potter antagonist Dolores Umbridge seems an apt comparison. The world must think that Lord Voldermort has ascended from the bowels of the religious right to create havoc in a world needed healing and compassion from a US leadership role. Americans (at least the educated ones) should be scared, very scared if the team of McCain and Palin is elected in November.

Palin is an avid animal hunter with a seventeen year old pregnant unmarried daughter. It was eerie and hearing her contradictions promoting Christian family values to the evangelist crowd. John McCain has an agenda of war and policing Iraq for "the next hundred years", rattling sabers at Iran and threatening Russia over Georgia. The "might is right" approach is alive and well in the Republican party. Palin created a fantasy world of fabrications loosely based on truth much as JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings to reel in country bumpkins. Palin has also avoided the media for the last week, giving only a fluffy interview with People Magazine. She will have to face the music sooner rather than later. The media will not give her a free pass or let her play hide and seek for the sixty two days leading to the November election. They will ask the hard questions, that can not be avoided in a speech crafted by campaign speechwriters. The media will expose her record and lack of foreign policy moxie, otherwise the US will be headed back to the cold war. Should McCain be elected and die or is killed in office; Palin would serve out his term and have her finger on the nuclear weapon supply, yes we should all be very scared.

Well I was very much here in Colorado and was sitting among the 84,000 at Mile High Stadium listening, yelling, cheering, crying, booing, laughing and loving it all. Actually being there watching and listening to Obama speak was a most incredible experience to say the least! I haven't blogged it yet but I will.
Hugs Back : )
I think this should be a group effort to start NOW demanding that Palin be on next Sundays Meet the Press and Face the Nation---just as a start---
By all rights, since her announcement was Friday--she should have been on all the week-end talk shows last week-end.
Also John McCain-----we need to get the MEDIA focused on him like they have not been before.
We can't let him use the Jerry Springer of Palin to keep the media attention off him
I want him answering question after question after question----with no promptor.
He has gotten a pass, while yelling he can't get any media attention
WELL, NOW IS THE TIME
However, you are a very good plagiarist of science fiction!
