ALL WEEK, I WONDERED, SINCE, GEARALDINE WAS A PARTY MINORITY, ELDER STATESWOMAN, THAT BARACK COULD NOT GRACEFULLY PARDON HER AND SAY YOU PHRASED IT WRONG, SISTER, BUT JOIN ME MY "FELLOW MINORITY HISTORY MAKER". I WAS EXCITED WITH TEARS IN MY EYES, WHEN I VOTED THE FIRST WOMAN VICE PRESIDENT-- LIKE MANY OF YOU, AFRICAN AMERICAN, AS MUCH, AS WHITE, DID WHEN YOU VOTED BARACK! YOU NEVER WANT TO DOWN A MOMENT OF AMERICAN HISTORY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT GERALDINE SAID, BUT, IT SEEMS TO BE THE PASTOR'S PHILOSOPHY, RACE MATTERS, AND NOT IN A GRACIOUS WAY. I HAVE TO FORGIVE HIS "UNCLE", WHEN HE DID NOT "FORGIVE" MY AUNT. I THINK NOT. HILLARY CAMP. BE GRACIOUS OR END UP IN THIS TOWN-- UNGRACIOUSVILLE; A TOWN OF LONELY HELL!

ALL CAPS / DUE TO HEAD INJURY/ PARDON ME / THANK YOU/ REPLIES IN SMALL LETTERS, CAUSE WHEN I REPLY ON OTHERS' BLOGS, I FORGET I AM BACK ON MY OWN / DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING/ SHOULD BE RUNNIN' THE COUNTRY / THANK YOU

DID YOU NOT LIKE MY POST , MEL? MY INTERNET EXPLORER STUCK ON "WAITING FOR" THEN THREW ME OFF LINE. I USUALLY LIKE A HEADS UP ON SPELLING. I DELETED AS SOON AS I COULD GET ON LINE AND FIGURE OUT, WHICH ONE HAD MY COMMENTS ON IT. MOST OF US ARE HORRIFIED TO POST TWICE. MEL IS SAVING HIS COMPLIMENT FOR MY NEXT POST! LOL!

It wasn't your fault, the DNC site was having a hiccup again. There were more than one post that got entered twice and the site was really slow to respond. You're cool Dona.

It happens
By Matt R Mar 14th 2008 at 10:50 pm EDT
Look, this type of thing happens during campaigns. People get caught up in the moment and say stupid stuff. Their punishment? They don't get appointed to some sweet position if their candidate wins office.

Happened to Power and now Ferraro.

It's nothing that hasn't happened before or won't happen again.

I believe powers and ferraro said what they said on purpose then threw themselves on the sword.

this is politics, take the fall for your candidate, it is loyalty.

Ferraro said something I think a lot of Americans feel toward Senator Obama. Whether she should have said it or not is not the issue. I applaud her for having the guts to express true feeling, even if some of us do not agree. Because, it would be even more shameful, and even more detrimental to our democratic society if these kindsof feelings were not expressed and dealt with.

The Problem with this Post
By Sharkhunter Mar 14th 2008 at 11:13 pm EDT
Some of us heard similar statements by Geraldine Ferraro against Jesse Jackson and still voted for her ticket anyway.

They were offensive in 1988 just as they are 20 years later. One would hope that she learned from one experience not to repeat the same mistake. But in her mind there was nothing in her statments to apologize for.

So what is there to forgive?

i don't remember a jesse fight. i swear, i don't knopw what she's talkin' about. the party pushed her being a minority. minority rocks in the democratic party! i wish barack had forgiven her as she is an elder democrat. was just sayin'!

Well, for one I didnt jump on her or that 84 yr old Mexican woman in Texas. Not did I jump on Rev. Wright. They all expressed how a lot of people think and feel.

And in 84 I still voted for Ferraro and whoever (Mondale?) and not Jesse in the primary so I didnt make a big deal of it.

So, in a way I agree with your appeal and we all shoudl be better than this because when this hit in 84 it cost the Democrats the election and if things continue to go the way they are this election might be a done deal as well.

Hillary won California, Florida and Texas in this primary but when was the last time a Democrat won all three along with New York, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois in a primary. Thats a lot of voters to risk turning off from the DP.

I actually thought this site was more about strategizing rather than spinning media speculation and sensationalized rumor-mongering. Guess I was wrong on that too.

Like I always say I can forgive but I never forget. We need to move forward, not repeat these same mistakes in the past because they are doing all of us more harm than good.

PEACE.

good and true post
By Carolina Blue Dog Mar 14th 2008 at 11:29 pm EDT
I truely believe that there are many people in this party that are uncomfortable with Obama, and it has absolutly nothing to do with his race. But if you say one cross word about him, you are branded a bigot.
I grew up in the Jim Crow south. I saw it as a child and was repelled by it. I have seen a cross burning in a field as I rode home from visiting a family member in rural, 1960's North Carolina.
I remember riots in school during intergration. I remember it all like yesterday.
Obama has been given a free pass by the media. Maybe it isn't to late to put him under the microscope Hillary Clinton has been under for the last 16 years.
I have no problem voting for any man or woman, black ,white, yellow, red or green that has the cut of the jib to be President, but this guy just doesn't have it.

i am glad for 2 things. u recreated the fear we all felt during the 1960's. u say u will give anyone a shot with u! that's being a Democrat! i just believe grace and a sense of humor would be good in our nominees. i have had to use my sense of humor, when life was not fair. i like to see it in the democratic party!
