Republican trolls and the DNC donation boycott suicide movement

Over the past few weeks, I have received some really stupid emails trying to get me to boycott the DNC financially over seating Florida and Michigan delegations to the Democratic convention. I believe this movement is a trojan horse operation being pushed by Republican trolls.
It smells like a Karl Rove type operation.

The financing of the Democratic National Committee should not be crippled as a result of the Clinton-Obama Presidential contest under any circumstances!

The current round of anti-McCain ads being aired by the Democratic National Committee is proof. They are excellent. As Democrats, we should all be helping to finance them if we want to win in November.

Here are a few suggestions.

If you receive an email urging a boycott of DNC donations, reply to the sender that they are helping the Republican Party and that you will be blocking all future emails from them. Then block them.

If you have a website that includes links to other sites, remove all links to sites that promote boycotting the DNC financially.

Make a small donation to the DNC instead of your favorite Presidential candidate this week. Show that you are a real Democrat!

Urge everyone on your email lists to read this post, copy it and send it to every Democrat they know.

Write the Presidential candidate you support and urge them to do a joint televised appeal for funds for the Democratic National Committee. A joint Clinton-Obama fundraising ad would certainly help strengthen the Democratic ticket in November at all levels regardless of eventual nominee.

Thanks,

Stephen Crockett

money
By staten island democrat May 7th 2008 at 7:48 am EDT
I used to give money to the DNC and now I don't. I have been giving my donations to Hillary and will continue to do so. I will donate to the DNC again if they count the Florida and Michigan votes (and not 50 - 50 like hypocrite Obama wants) AND if Hillary is the nominee. If not the party has lost my vote and money.

As a resident of the state of Mi I have decided to not give any money the DNC after it's choice to not count votes. They leave my much choice. I have only my vote and my money, They don't want my vote. HRC will get my money and my vote.
I have an idea

Since your state party officials agreed that the votes wouldn't count back in December, why don't you get rid of them. You know, Carl Levin, et al?

So your taking your marbles and going home? Such a mature move.

I feel for the voters, in the two contested states but they and you are pawns of a desperate Clinton strategy. Would it be fair to count voter were name was uncontested? I guess the voters outweigh the fairness of rules and commitments made by the candidates.

No DNC super-delegates should support Clinton if her supporters will not support the DNC.

There should have been new votes in both states. This would have been the fair but expensive solution.

The DNC is working for the good of the Democratic Party. Good Democrats should have more loyalty to our Party than any individual candidate.

The anti-McCain ads are badly needed now. We need them fully funded. If Clinton supporters do not care enough about beating McCain to put that first, they should certainly not get to choose the nominee.

The Democratic Party belongs to all Democrats not to either Clinton supporters or Obama supporters.

I believe the vast majority of Clinton supporters are Democrats first and foremost! This is why I believe many of those pushing this DNC donation boycott are really agents of the Republican Party and John McCain!

Great Idea

Money is tight right now for everyone. I am so busy donating to the Obama campaign, I simply cannot afford to donate to the DNC. Another reason to stop this masacre of a primary season.

Other important races to give to
By Diana M. Painter May 7th 2008 at 11:34 am EDT
I won't cry if people don't give to the DNC, whatever your personal reasons. However I will be very upset if people don't give to _any_ political campaign because of the POTUS race or the MI and FL stuff. Sure, you can give just to the candidates for POTUS, but we democrats have some very intense races right now all over the country. Hillary or Obama can't do what they need to do if they don't have a congress to support them.

I'm gonna plug for my home races right now.
Larry LaRocco is running for U.S. Senate in Idaho and his opponent is a millionaire. Larry needs our help! Please give to him at
Link

Walt Minnick in the ID CD-1 House race has a real chance, but he too can use some money to keep helping with his campaign. Please give to him at
Link

There are even little tiny counties in ID (Twin Falls County or Bonneville County) who have a real chance this year at getting some democratic representation in Idaho's statehouse. But they don't have money to even get an office or have just 1 campaign staff for the 4 races in their county. Please think of the little guys when you decide to spend your money elsewhere.

The change both candidates are running on is more then just this national race. A good grassroots state or local campaign will bring out the votes for the President, no matter the nominee.

Thanks for the post!

Of course Obama is already working

WITH the DNC to raise money for the DNC.

Is Hillary a real Democrat? Does she really want the nomination so badly she's willing to sacrifice the party? I wondered last night if she was just going to stay in to get out of debt; but now she has increased her debt to nearly 10 million dollars.

So much for her rationality.

I've donated to the DNC each month, and I will continue to do so while Howard Dean is chairman.

The Democratic Party may not be perfect, but they are the only true way we can fight a Republican Party which has been taken over by the extreme right wing and which is destroying our once great country. Those who express their hatred of the DNC have no business being here. They are either Republican trolls ... whether they admit it or not.

Boycotts: Candidate & DNC fundraising
By Jim Callahan May 8th 2008 at 11:10 pm EDT
Back in January, it was insulting to have solicitations from the candidates and the DNC to pay for campaigning in the "four early states" (Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada) while Florida was being boycotted.

One wondered why those Iowans with their state's windfall profits from ethanol couldn't afford to pay for the Presidential candidates to campaign in their own state.

As soon as one or the other of the candidates makes an official campaign stop in Florida (ending the candidate boycott of Florida), Floridians should lift their boycott of the DNC.

Pending the arrival a Presidential candidate in Florida for an official campaign stop, it is up to the four early states to make up the difference in dollars of any Florida boycott of the DNC.
Need money? Ask Iowa!

Meanwhile, you can keep your Democratic dollars in Florida by supporting either:
1. Florida Democratic Party (FDP)
2. Your county Democratic Executive Committee (DEC)
3. A federal campaign in Florida such as a local candidate for US Congress
4. A local meetup group in your city supporting the candidate of your choice (see Meetup.com or the candidate's web site).

Good response. Giving to the Party at any level is a very positive thing.

DSCC
By JMesserly May 8th 2008 at 11:15 pm EDT
Even those that feel irked at the party can give to the DSCC (democratic senate campaign comittee) or individual senate campaigns.

Why the senate? We need a fillibuster proof majority in congress for swift reforms needed to get the country back on track.

According to pollster.com, many senate races look like we have a fighting chance. It will be no slam dunk though and the republican attack machine has not gotten started.

I'd especially like to put in a word for Al Franken. He's got a fight on his hands and could really use people's help. Most people know him for his comedy, but look at his policy positions- he is a smart guy and we need more progressives like him.

He would be an excellent Senator.

Great response!

We have some really good candidates running for the Senate and House of Representative that really need funds.

Of course, Franken in Minnesota.

Do not forget about the Senate race in Louisiana where the Democratic candidate will have to face the results of Republican efforts to keep former New Orleans residents from voting.

We have many great Congressional candidates that can win in places like Maryland's 1st Congressional District (Frank Kratovil) or the 15th Pennsylvania Congressional District (sam Bennett). With more money, both of those formerly Republican House seats will go Democratic this November.

I've re-considered.....
By Magy May 10th 2008 at 12:05 pm EDT
....my earlier discussion to boycott donations to the DNC while supporting my candidate, hoping they would do something with MI and FL votes but now I think it is more important to make sure they have the funds to fight. I have nightmares of another Republican President!!

support or no support
By leocthasme May 12th 2008 at 9:07 am EDT
This is the same type of crap being promoted all over the place. I had mail from some 'supposed party' members with the stupid idea that if Hillary was not the choice, then I should vote for McCain. Hell if my only choice was McCain, iwould rather vote for the Devil In Hell. Also other types of the same thing. For instance if Hillary was nominated then I should not vote. Your are right it all sounds like the Repugs are at it in force. I vote for Democrats if they are yellow puppy dogs. I never in my life ever voted for any Repug, my dad and entire family taught me better.

See, we don't need Republicans, we have disloyal destructive scorned women running for President. "The YACK YACK SISTERHOOD" find their personal ambition to prove they are as good as a man only proves they are not.
